You need to do your research; Elvis never cared about anyone but himself--and was stoned most of the time (including in the photo with Tricky Dick)--Bono has been campaigning for decades to end hunger and aids in Africa. He can discuss the issue with any politician intelligently and has won the respect of both the left and the right. I don't get your post at all. Seems to me that you are one of those far fringed people who are so narrow minded that you speak before you think.
Gort wasn't equating Bono to Elvis. He was equating Bush to Nixon. Two men whose popularity and self-esteem were so in the tank they HAD to reach out to popular icons of the day to make themselves feel better.
This is all pretty trivial stuff--but I will point out that at the time Presley met with Nixon (Presley showed up ininvited) the President's popularity was at a respectable point (less than a year later he would win re-election by a landslide)--so much for the popularity in the tank theory. Bush does not meet with Bono to help shore up his ratings because most of the voting public can give a s..t about Bono, and the meetings they had are more likely the result of world politics and not American politics. If you are correct as to the webmaster's point, then he is mistaken. Either way, it's all trivial bullshit anyway.

Anonymous, you missed the point, I think.

I think the difference is that Bono looks like he's about to slug Dubya.
