Will cable dispute sideline Lion fans?
It still comes down to the sports tier vs. $1.10 a month for everyone. Comcast wants to put BTN into a sports package that people who are interested pay an extra $5 a month and BTN wants to be on basic cable at $1.10 per suscriber. The Chicago Tribune has a good rundown of the dispute. Comcast says that the BTN has a limited appeal and should be put off on a specialty band and BTN calls bullshit on this argument pointing out that they already carry limited appeal channels such as Versus and a bunch of religion and shopping networks. Since Comcast took over from Adelphia they have cut four channels from my local lineup; the WE network(38), ESPN Classic(67), UPN-57 (11) and Newswatch16 (63) and the price went up. Comcast also has entered The Customer Service Hall of Shame.

You forgot to add the NFL network which you have to subscribe to the sports package to get. As an avid Phillies fan, taking UPN-11 away also sucks. The problem is that you can't get COMCAST Sportsnet (Phillies) on the Dish. Therefore, you really don't have a choice.
Wasn't the NFL network on the digital cable with Adelphia?
Yes, the NFL network was part of the basic digital package. In June, COMCAST switched it over to being part of a sports package.
Big Ten alumni should switch to DirecTV. Free installation, lower monthly bill, and better picture than Comcast. Use your annual alumni donation to offset the cost of the DVR or even HD DVR from DirecTV. That way both Comcast and the Big Ten lose.
I wish I could switch to direct tv but my house is surrounded by woods and the sateliite can't be placed. From Comcast's point of view it's OK that I pay for 2 Hispanic channels, HSN, QVC and other crap that I will never watch, but they don't want to add 1 more channel. I would gladly exchange telemundo for BTN. And to make matters worse, I live in South Bend IN. Do you think we get to see Colts games. No...I have to put up with da Bears.
