From His Holiness' view, Republicans have always fared better in organizing their base to get out and vote whilst Democrats have usually come up short. Let us be clear--if the Democrats do win control, it will not be because they had a clear concise message from the leadership (when was the last time you saw Nancy Pelosi on the news?)--it will be victory by default. The Donkey needs to harness his message over the coming months and years in order to gain a true majority in congress. Otherwise, the majority that "may" come this November will be a short lived one. And let us not underestimate the religious right--understand that they do not truly care about the Foley issue; they DO care about the "life" issue and as a professor of mine once remarked, "the pro life forces would just as soon have a despot in power so long as he was pro life". I predict that the Christian right will again be faithful and turn out to the polls. This election and congressional control is still up in the air. Bless you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
