More progress in Iraq.
WASHINGTON - The U.S. military announced the death of an American soldier wounded in Iraq on Tuesday, bringing to 2,000 the number of American service members killed since the war started in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, director of the force's combined press center, said via email, "The 2,000th Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine that is killed in action is just as important as the first that died and will be just as important as the last to die in this war .....
Since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, more than 15,000 American service members have been wounded in the conflict, according to the Defense Department.
According to CNN's tally, 2,194 coalition troops have died in the war.
Gort...I'm unsure if this is a report or a liberal glorification?
ReplyDeleteI do not consider soldiers statistics and I never will. God bless America.
How about making a note that they all signed the Constitution. Give them some meaning.
ReplyDeleteWHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN BY LIBERAL GLORIFICATION?
ReplyDeleteI wore the uniform of our country which is more than you or the rest of the bunch that got us into this mess can say. I lost comrades in Grenada and had a very good friend get shot up on the tarmac in Beruit and is in a wheelchair until this day. Every one of these deaths reminds me of how terrible war is and should not be entered into unless it is a last resort.
Can't you come up with a better argument than yell liberal all the time?
MY SON GORT; YOU HAVE HIS HOLINESS' ADMIRATION FOR YOUR SERVICE TO YOUR COUNTRY. WHY IS IT THAT OUR CONSERVATIVE FRIENDS [DR RICK, ETC.} CONTINUALLY TOUT THE LINE THAT ONLY REPUBLICANS ARE PATRIOTIC WHEN THE MAJORITY OF THE ONES IN POWER NEVER EVEN WORE THE UNIFORM?? I WOULD AS DR. RICK WHOM HIS HOLINESS BELIEVES TO BE A STUDENT AT A LOCAL UNIVERSITY, WHY HE HIMSELF DOES NOT ENLIST TO HELP THE CAUSE; SHEER HYPOCRICY AKA LET THE POOR KIDS DO IT. THIS BAFFLES ME DOWN TO MY PAPAL SHOES. GOOD LUCK AMERICA!
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart that so many have died in a war that never should have started in the first place. My prayers to all those who served and are serving in this never ending war and also to their families. No matter how many bombs explode or how many people are killed or wounded, we keep hearing those infamous words "we're making progress". Can someone, maybe you Dr. Rick, show me where? Your comment lacks compassion and patriotism. How can you in one sentence "not consider soldiers statistics" and the next sentence "God bless America"? What a hypocrite! Maybe you should put on a pair of army fatigues and walk in their shoes. I bet statistics would matter then.
ReplyDeleteI have on a number of occasions compared my attack on liberalism to the defense of our country but I am wrong. It is a defense of our servicemen and women. I am in school. I also recognize the need for a strong defense and military.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know me DON'T even comment on my patriotism.
Gort, you know my stance on soldiers and America, I'm as patriotic, if not more, than some who HAVE served (i.e. Paul Hackett).
I don't beleive that out servicemen and women are deaths without a cause comaparable to those who fought against Brittain for our independance.
I haven't worn any fatigues, but I do know I fight daily for the betterment of our country.
HEY DOCTOR RICK, SORRY THAT YOU SEEM TO PUT YOUR SCHOOLING AHEAD OF YOUR COUNTRY--IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE THE BULL ABOUT IRAQ. I AM SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED RECRUITER AT YOUR PLACE OF HIGHER LEARNING--WHY'D YOU IGNORE THEM?? IN SHORT, IS YOUR COZY SEAT IN THE CLASSROOM MORE PREFERABLE THAN A TENT IN IRAQ?? YOU BET IT IS! AND YOU DO NOT BELIEVE TRUTHFULLY IN YOUR CAUSE BECAUSE YOU ARE A YOUNG MAN AND YOU HAVE NOT JOINED UP. GOOD THING WE DIDN'T HAVE KIDS LIKE YOU IN WWII--WE'D MOST CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN GOOSESTEPPING NOW! WHERE'S YOUR PATRIOTISM--QUIT COLLEGE AND JOIN UP YOUNG MAN, OR YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CREIDIBILITY ON THIS ISSUE. OF COURSE, IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN FEIGN AN ILLNESS THAT PREVENTED YOU FROM JOINING--THERE ARE SO MANY UNHEALTHY CONSERVATIVES OUT THERE WHO "WANTED" TO JOIN. TOO FUNNY.
ReplyDeleteI think the Pope is dead wrong--why should us students go to war when others have "volunteered" to fight for our freedom! Hell, we are in college because we are smart--and to join the army would be pretty damned stupid! Cut us some slack!!
ReplyDeleteJimmy joined the army ‘cause he had no place to go
ReplyDeleteThere ain’t nobody hirin’
‘round here since all the jobs went
down to Mexico
Reckoned that he’d learn himself a trade maybe see the world
Move to the city someday and marry a black haired girl
Somebody somewhere had another plan
Now he’s got a rifle in his hand
Rollin’ into Baghdad wonderin’ how he got this far
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war
Bobby had an eagle and a flag tattooed on his arm
Red white and blue to the bone when he landed in Kandahar
Left behind a pretty young wife and a baby girl
A stack of overdue bills and went off to save the world
Been a year now and he’s still there
Chasin’ ghosts in the thin dry air
Meanwhile back at home the finance company took his car
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war
When will we ever learn
When will we ever see
We stand up and take our turn
And keep tellin’ ourselves we’re free
Ali was the second son of a second son
Grew up in Gaza throwing bottles and rocks when the tanks would come
Ain’t nothin’ else to do around here just a game children play
Somethin’ ‘bout livin’ in fear all your life makes you hard that way
He answered when he got the call
Wrapped himself in death and praised Allah
A fat man in a new Mercedes drove him to the door
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man’s war
