CV: Because of prior commitments, state Rep. Phyllis Mundy, D-Kingston, and her challenger John Cordora in the 120th District, and Karen Boback, R and Fred Nichols, D, contenders for the open state representative seat in the 117th district, could not be available.
No debate between Mundy and Cordora. What entertainment that promised to be. When Cordora announced he was running he said his top priority, if elected, would be banning gay marriage. Like that's a problem. Other press reports quote him as saying the problems in our country and state are caused by liberals and leftists. I've never met the man and was looking forward to seeing him in action. How did this guy ever get nominated when voters of the 120th had 2 sensible candidates in Joe Chacke and Paul Stebbins?

Mundy has this election, I agree with Gort when it came to more sensible candidates but man this would have been interesting
Yeah really! I figured he'd be foaming at the mouth during this debate. In my mind's eye, I pictured him ready to bite someone who looked like they had an independent thought.
In any event, Mundy has this bagged. You are right though, the entertainment factor was set on "high."
It would have been nice to see Phyllis play the sensible stand up to this man's far right-wing ravings.

I saw Stebbins' Web page and, had he been nominated, I would have worked actively to stop him the way I am trying to stop my party's candidate for the 20th State Senate District. Stebbins supported caps on damages for proven malpractice. The PA Medical Society and Politically Active Physicians' Association say they want caps because of "frivolous lawsuits." If the jury is considering pain-and-suffering damages, the lawsuit was not frivolous!
Phyllis Mundy has introduced outstanding legislation to encourage health care providers to implement quality management systems that would prevent 80-85% of the malpractice from happening (noting that the system and not the doctor is usually at fault), which would of course save lives while reducing the doctors' insurance costs.
I don't know what Cordora's position is because he does not even have a Web page but I am not familiar with anything he has done, tried to do, or even advocated regarding our health care system. If I lived in the 20th Senate District I would be voting for Bob McNamara. I will be voting for Ed Pashinski in the 121st House District and it is important to reelect Mundy in the 120th, if we want real win-win solutions to our health care costs and quality of care.
Yeah, what was up with the voters of the 120th? I live in Forty Fort and I feel bad that I voted for Stebbins, because all Joe Chacke has done since he has lost the election is settle a Fire Contract, steer the community through a potential flood, run the basketball league, which my son loved, shut down an attempt to drag Forty Fort into the illegal immigration issue. He would have been a good candidate. I hope he runs in 2 years again. I won't make the same mistake.
Come on Gort, you know darned well that the danger posed by me falling in love with another guy and getting married is way more important than the war, health care, gun violence, government reform, property taxes, and jobs! Get with the program here.
I think you're cute too.
Chacke has done a lot since the election but his rantings after the loss won't help. I hear Stebbins coaches as well up in his area (not that coaching would make a good quality for a legislator) and I did vote for him. Chacke will have it locked in 2 years if he can apologize to the voters of Kingston for his comments. I think Joe would have been a better candidate but we all know that illegal immigration issue in Forty Fort was a joke and Williams had no right to put his town in that position. Anybody who didn't try to stop that nut should be voted out.
Levinson is a joke. He sucks so many Democrats asses to get his deals done. Hey Bill help Bob MC. It won't make any difference because Baker has all but sewed it up

Well, I see that the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance and/or the Fighting Docs are watching this blog. :-) I know those organizations don't find me very funny at all, as I've been proving to everyone in Northeast PA that their malpractice damage caps are pure unmitigated snake oil.
Actually, I'm a registered Republican. Since I criticize Yellow Dog Democrats (would vote for a yellow dog if it was running as a Democrat; that's the only way Ned Lamont in CT will get any votes), I have to criticize Empty Suit Republicans as well. Those are Republicans who would vote for an empty suit with an elephant pin on its lapel, which is the only way Baker is going to get elected.
Can you tell me anything useful that Baker has actually accomplished, or any useful ideas she has for fixing the state's health care crisis? Her job at Blue Cross consisted of giving away ratepayer money to various "worthy causes" as I understand. Well, that might qualify her to throw taxpayer money at problems but not much else. McNamara will work with people who have real solutions to actually fix the health care system.
Bill,
I appreciate your input and admire your restraint. It's good to have someone who will argue ideas and not get into schoolyard name calling.
