She will probably win the Pennsylvania primary and kicking off the campaign in Scranton is a good move. Her dad was born and buried here.
The Clinton campaign has done a great job of reaching out to us bloggers. I was offered Press Credentials for this event and I have yet to hear from the Obama people.
Right now I think Hillary will win PA big.
Wow, that's awesome Gort. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI still can't get over your last blog: "According to noted Internet Psychoanalyst Another Monkey"
HAHA. That made me laugh out loud.
Hillary - and/or Obama - will probably own Philadelphia and Pittsburg in the General Election. But the Purple Map from 2004 showed that it's places like NEPA where McCain could find the votes to swing the state red.

Whever the Democratic nominee is, they'd better hit this area over and over again - unlike Billy-boy in 1992:

Gort,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the credentials.
Otherwise, it's not a big surprise that Hillary will win PA big. For those brushing up on the SAT's:
Bush Family:Kennebunkport::Clinton Family:Lake Winola

PHILLY ON THE EAST, PITTSBURGH ON THE WEST--IN BETWEEN, ALABAMA. OF COURSE SHE'LL WIN HERE. SHAME.
ReplyDeleteLooking ahead to November, Survey USA (which, in my opinion, has been very accurate in the past), projects that McCain will lose to either Clinton or Obama. But, if he goes up against Obama, he'll take PA and NJ. I thought that was interesting. Here's the link:

I BELIEVE IN ALL LIKELIHOOD THAT IT WOULD BE BEST FOR THE PARTY TO NOMINATE MRS. CLINTON. THE YOUNG CHILDREN'S ENTHUSIASM FOR MR. OBAMA IS HEARTWARMING, BUT IT WAS ALSO HEARTWARMING WHEN MY TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS WERE DROOLING OVER BOBBY SHERMAN BACK IN THE DAY. A FEW MONTHS LATER THEY FORGOT POOR BOBBY AND WERE APE OVER DAVID CASSIDY. MY POINT IS STUDENTS, THAT MR. OBAMA'S MAIN THRUST OF SUPPORT COMES FROM THE YOUNG AND THEY ARE AS FICKLE AS CAN BE. WE ARE BETTER OFF WITH MRS. CLINTON AS THE NOMINEE BECAUSE SHE IS THE MOST MATURE AND HAS THE MORE MATURE FOLLOWERS WHO CAN BE COUNTED ON TO SHOW UP AT THE POLLS IN NOVEMBER. CLASS DISMISSED.
ReplyDeleteWell, nobody could call me, my fiancee, our friends or my family young. I'm over 40, my fiance is older yet, my sister and her husband are late 30's, my friends range from 35-70.... hmmm. Guess at least for my circle, you've got it wrong since all of us support Senator Obama who is actually trying to remove the schoolyard bully aspects from politics and put politics squarely in the adult world. In my experience, kids aren't alone in prefering adult conversations about the issues to empty phrases like a "time out from trade" and the silly season negativity where Senator Obama's proper call for Senator Clinton's non-disclosed tax returns from 2000 forward are compared dubiously to Ken Starr's tactics.
ReplyDeleteProfessor,
ReplyDeleteIf you take the all caps off and use the shift key you won't be shouting every post.
I am a Republican, 50 years old, and if Obama wins the nomination I will vote for him. I belong to a small group of about 100 other like minded republicans who don't want to vote McCain.
The only thing worse, to us, than John McCain is Hilary Clinton.
So if the Dems nominate Obama he will get a lot of crossover support.
TO THE GENTLEMAN WHO DESCRIBES HIMSELF AS A 50 YEAR OLD REPUBLICAN WHO IS VOTING FOR MR. OBAMA--SIR, YOUR STATEMENT STRAINS MY CREDULITY. YOU DID NOT DETAIL AS TO WHETHER YOU ARE A LIBERAL OR A CONSERVATIVE--MY GUESS IS THAT IF YOU ARE A REPUBLICAN AT ALL THEN YOU MUST BE LIBERAL (A.K.A. A LONE SURVIVOR OF THE ROCKEFELLER WING OF THE GOP), FOR IF YOU ARE VOTING FOR MR. OBAMA YOU MOST CERTAINLY ARE NOT A CONSERVATIVE. STUDENTS, WE MUST DISPELL THE MYTH THAT MR. OBAMA IS GOING TO APPEAL TO THE REPUBLICANS IN THE FALL. MR. OBAMA AFTER ALL IS REGARDED AS THE MOST LIBERAL PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE; I DIGRESS TO YOUR COMMON SENSE--IF I WERE A REPUBLICAN WHO BELIEVES IN LESS GOVERNMENT, BANISHMENT OF THE GAY COMMUNITY, A RIGHT TO LIFE AMENDEMENT, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON, THEN WHY, WHY MY STUDENTS, WOULD I EVEN FOR ONE SECOND CONSIDER VOTING FOR MR. OBAMA. YOU MAY VERY WELL BE A REPUBLICAN, AND MAY VERY WELL BE MIDDLE AGED, BUT MY INSTINCT TELLS ME THAT YOU ARE A YOUNG PERSON WHO IS ATTEMPTING TO JUSTIFY MR. OBAMA'S NOMINATION. AS MUCH AS I ENJOY SEEING THE YOUNG CHILDREN HAVING A POLITICAL INTEREST, THEY MUST BE AWARE THAT THERE EXISTS SOMETHING CALLED FAIR PLAY. IT IS NOT NICE TO PLAY A REPUBLICAN ON THIS BLOG WHEN YOU ARE NOWHERE NEAR BEING ONE. CLASS DISMISSED.
ReplyDeleteBesides having baggie plaid pants and gazing from the university ivory tower window, what does the eloquent professor smoke in his large drooping pipe?
ReplyDeleteDid you make it to the rally, Gort?
ReplyDeleteProfessor because Bush has given all you have just stated and I don't see McCain doing any different. He is populating his campaign staff with many Bushies. So if I am going to get a big gov't old, crabby republican or a big gov't young charasmatic dem. gimme the dem. conservatives don't have any option in this election. it is liberal across the board....
ReplyDeleteI SHALL CONCEDE YOUR ARGUMENT WHEN YOU CAN SHOW ME ON THE RECORD WHERE MR. MCCAIN HAS COME OUT IN FAVOR OF ANTI GUN LAWS, GAY RIGHTS, OR ABORTION RIGHTS. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. YOUR ARGUMENT THAT MR. MCCAIN IS A LIBERAL HAS ME WONDERING WHETHER YOU HAVE BEEN WANDERING WITH ALICE AND WONDERLAND AND HAD TEA WITH THE MAD HATTER. CLASS DISMISSED.
ReplyDeleteyour right prof. mccain is for infidelity, corrprut greed and corruption, cow towing to bush when it is convienent, working with dems to pass asinine legislation.....
ReplyDeletemccain may not be that liberal i will concede, but he aint that conservative and with a dem house and senate he will do what he did in the senate, go along to get along....
big spending gov't to perserve gay hatred i don't need it. that is what we got from bush.
abortion is completely in the hands of the supreme court, until a case gets there and there has not been one since roe, it doesn't much matter who the f--k is in the oval office....
pro gun i will give you that one 100%. but do we trade our other protections to privacy guarentteed under the consitution, because mccain will continue that crap from bush.
again ther is NO conservative in the race, so it much doesn't matter. sometimes a good liberal is what conservateds need for 4 years to recapture the republican party and then the white house.
i will give mccain props though, he fought in a war that wussy w hid from....
if mccain chooses a good runing mate then he will get my vote.. ya gotta figure he won't make the entire term. it looks like the campaign itself has aged him 10 years....
Professor, both my sister and her husband (late 30's) are Republicans and they just voted for Senator Obama in Houston, Texas. They also plan to vote for Senator Obama in the fall. Why? No, they aren't liberal. Well, among other things, Tom Delay & co. and the corruption of the last 7 years. Also, Senator Obama has inspired them to believe that maybe, just maybe, folks can believe in the political process again if the President is Barack Obama. No, they don't agree with him on most issues, but they are more than willing to set those differences aside for the sake of our great Republic.
ReplyDeletebravo and amen!
ReplyDeletethe republican controlled the house and senate for six years under a republican president and the country has declined. as a republican i hate to say it but by party fucked up royal and we need a change. if it is a liberal then so be it, because there are no conservatives left in the republican party
TO THE YOUNG MAN WHO RESPONDED TO MY LAST POST REGARDING THE ABORTION ISSUE. I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS, BUT THE JUSTICES OF THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT ARE APPOINTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES; THEREFORE, WHETHER A PRESIDENT IS CONSERVATIVE OR LIBERAL CERTAINLY DOES HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE ABORTION ISSUE AND IF MR. MCCAIN IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT HE WILL MOST CERTAINLY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO NAVIGATE THE COURT TO NEARLY 90% CONSERVATIVE IN ITS IDEOLOGY. IF YOU WERE UNAWARE OF THIS SCENARIO YOUNG MAN I SUGGEST THAT YOU SIT DOWN TONIGHT AND PUT DOWN THE COMPUTER GAMES AND READ THE U.S. CONSTITUTION. I DO NOT MEAN TO BELITTLE YOU, BUT THIS TYPE OF IGNORANCE COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO PROFESSES TO KNOW ABOUT GOVERNMENT IS A TRITE BIT DISAPPOINTING. CLASS DISMISSED.
ReplyDeleteprofessor dick head. i am aware that the president appoints the supreme court justices you numb nuts and the senate has to approve it. reagan and bush I appointees ended up being moderates, so the truth is you don't know what you are going to get when you elect a president. coward bush tried to bush harriet myers on the court. again it doesn't fucking matter. you can have all the conservatives, moderates or liberals on the court unless the case comes before them, which it hasn't since r v w it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteand you can bet that mccain will appoint someone his dem buddies in the senate will approve with no problem.
you are a professor of stupidity and stop fucking shouting. everytime you shout i will curse
CALM DOWN YOUNG MAN, STOP HAVING A TANTRUM. YOUR OBSESSION WITH MY CAPITALIZATION IS QUITE DISTURBING--INSTEAD OF ARGUING WITH ELOQUENCE YOU DIGRESS TO THE GRAPHICS OF MY WRITING--VERY IMMATURE INDEED. HOW ON EARTH ARE ALL OF THE YOUNG CHILDREN GOING TO REACT WHEN MR. OBAMA EITHER LOSES THE NOMINATION OR THE ELECTION IN THE FALL?? AND I WILL REMIND YOU THAT MR. BUSH'S APPOINTMENTS TO THE HIGH COURT WERE VERY MUCH CONSERVATIVE; WE LIVE IN A VERY PARTISAN AGE MY SON (AS YOUR BITING REPLIES HELP INDICATE). THE ERA OF MODERATE COURT APPOINTMENTS IS OVER. WHY NOT GET AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER THIS WEEKEND YOUNG MAN. Go out an find a nice young lady--it will be worth it!!
