I will be at the Kirby Center for the 10AM Town Hall meeting and hope to run into some other local bloggers. Chis Hackett will MC the event with Sen. Lisa Baker doing the introduction. Mayor Tom Leighton said he intends to to welcome Sen. McCain to the city. Hazelton Mayor Lou Barletta will not be in attendance because he will be in Berwick listening for people with funny accents.
I will skip the fundraiser at the Westmoreland Club, not that they would actually let me in the door. As Groucho said....
Hope that you can get a question in to the Senator. Perhaps I am a cynic but I am nearly certain that all participants have been pre selected along with their inquiries. God speed.
ReplyDeleteAS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE PRESTIGIOUS WESTMORELAND CLUB I SHALL BE IN ATTENDANCE FOR THE HONORABLE SENATORS APPEARANCE. HOPEFULLY HE WILL ADDRESS THE CAPITAL GAINS ISSUES ALONG WITH AN ACROSS THE BOARD TAX CUT FOR ALL OF US. I AM MOST CERTAIN THAT PLACING A TRUE CONSERVATIVE IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHO WILL CUT CUT CUT THROUGH THE RED TAPE OF WELFARE AND OTHER GIVE AWAY PROGRAMS WHILST STRENGTHENING OUR NATIONAL DEFENCES WILL RESTORE OUR ECONOMY TO ITS FORMER MAJESTY. IN A SIDE NOTE, I ENJOYED WATCHING SENATOR OBAMA PLAY PRESIDENT WHILST TOURING AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ. HATS OFF TO OUR GALLANT FIGHTING MEN WHO PUT ON THEIR BEST FACE OUT OF RESPECT TO THE SENATOR EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THEM LOATHE HIS POLICIES. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TENDENCY FOR YOUNG CHILDREN TO GO OUT AND PLAY SOLDIER FOR A DAY OR TWO AND I AM HAPPY THAT SENATOR OBAMA HAD HIS TURN. CLASS DISMISSED.
ReplyDeleteGort,
ReplyDeleteHopefully your breakfast stays down.
no lou, i guess mccain doesn't want the hate mongering bigot near his campaign. i wonder why?
ReplyDeleteFinally, an event at the Kirby that Hackett both sponsored in advance and supported with his attendance inside.
ReplyDeleteI was there too, but was unable to get a question in. I was rather close too. I got some pictures of McCain and Hacket which I'll toss on my blog.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few people who got questions in that were not easy fodder for him.
I was at the Westmoreland Club. No, I'm not a member and I am not even close to the income required to even open the door.
ReplyDeleteBut I am glad I went.
Who let Lisa Baker get the microphone - she her back to Harrisburg to see her boyfriend down there!!!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable, it's 2008, and the Republicans march out John McCain as their candidate! Oh my god! They can't do better than this? A 71 year old "old news" "has been" for decades, that the GOP and their pundits have themselves been trashing for years...is suddenly "the right guy"??? Come on!!! Who is the GOP kiddin??? This isn't a Ron Poppeil infomercial, is it? Wake me up, please!
ReplyDeleteJedi: ask McCain why viagara is covered by health plans, but lots of birth control isn't! He had a meltdown when asked this.
ReplyDeleteAnd health care is the #1 issue, not gas. People are going broke from health care.
ReplyDeleteI pay $1,000/month for 2 people: me and my wife. THEN...after I pay this ridiculous amount, there's CO-PAYS, DEDUCTIBLES, CO-INSURANCE (a fancy name for % not covered, IE: if you have a 30% "co-insurance", that simply means they're only paying 70% and YOU pay 30%, nice fancy name, so $10,000 operation: you pay $3,000 + $12,000/year premiums + copays, deductibles...OH, and did I mention, arguing with them for covering anything after they initlally reject it???).
These politicians do not GIVE A SHIT because they get FREE 100% HEALTH CARE and we are going BROKE from health care, not gas prices!!! (but gas prices, too)
And professor cleaver? If you're serious, you can go pound sand if you're worried about THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX! People like you make me sick. Let me guess: you're RICH and you're worried about your CAPITAL GAINS TAX and you have health care!
There are 50 million people without health care, of course YOU don't care! There will never be universal health care in the U.S. because of greedy people who stop at "well, I'M covered, so I don't give a shit about anyone else!" until it happens to them!
18,000 Americans die each year because they don't have health insurance: THAT'S SIX 9/11'S A YEAR!!! But for 3,000 at the WTC, we shred our constitution, go to wars costing $3 trillion dollars of our tax $$$.
Re: Big Dan, Whilst I totally respect your comments and criticisms may I point out that the 1981 Reagan tax cuts put us on a road to complete recovery from the massive recession of the Carter Administration. Less than four years after Mr. Carter basically told us in an address to the nation that we had seen our best days as a people the Gipper comes along and proves him wrong. And the American people rewarded him by giving him 49 states in the 1984 election. I truly believe that cutting taxes is the best road to economic prosperity. Now, in regards young man to your woes on health care all I can say is the following: You eat greasy foods, including Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. etc. You chug beer or soda down by the ton; you don't exercise, you smoke cigarettes, and then one day you become sickly and you want me and the rest of America to pay for it???? Class dismissed.
ReplyDeleteyeesh big dan, do you want the gov't to come in and cut your food for you too. if you aren't able to take care of you and your family perhaps you should never have married and reproduced... waah the gov't needs to take care of me..
ReplyDeleteWould it have been OK if the $250 lunch was at Denny's ? Anyone with $250 to donate could have been at that event.. The coal crackers always go for class warfare first.......
ReplyDeleteHEY FUCK NUTS DAN... Who the hell do yo think is going to pay for all this? Certainly not beer wallets like you who hang around casino's all day?
ReplyDeleteProfessor....a true conservative in the White House? You are of course speaking of the long shot candidacy of Ron Paul, no?
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, surely a Professor as sharp as yourself knows that John McCain is as much an expert on the economy as Dick Cheney is an expert on quail hunting safety...
