Lou Barletta is now branding himself as a Maverick.
Barletta won’t support McCain
“I’m not endorsing anybody. I’m running my own race right now,” Hazleton’s mayor said. “This isn’t about John McCain versus Barack Obama. This is about Lou Barletta versus Paul Kanjorski, and that’s what I’m working on.”
“I don’t need a personal relationship with a president,” he said. “I need a relationship with the people I represent so that I can go to Washington and stand up to them and not be a puppet and become a puppet of the party.”
what a wuss. if the republicans get the white house and this a--hole pulls this off he will be in the minority party and no backing from the president.
ReplyDeleteas much as it pains me, we need to keep kanjo in office or this area won't get a goddam dime for 2 years..
Wait read your post again...if the republicans get in the white house and Barletta wins he will be in the minority party...
ReplyDeleteIf you don't believe that Washington is the problem then start here. Seven out of the top ten wealthiest in the House and Senate are Democrats not Republicans. Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi are worth more than John McCain. http://www.opensecrets.org/pfds/overview.php
Then move onto this site- http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/20/beck.cities/ What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common?
As far as unity goes Ed Mitchell has been trying to brand Lou Barletta as another George Bush. Well Ed here are the facts. Laura Bush is coming to the area and Lou Barletta is not invited. Lou Barletta won't endorse John McCain...so keep feeding us with your utter nonsense. In this day and age of information it is too easy to factually straighten out Ed Mitchell's twisted tales. Did anyone tell him George Bush won't be there when Lou Barletta takes office?
if barletta wins he will be one term. with this f--ed up manuevering he will get nothing for the people he represents. he will be a back, back, back bencher in the house. he is an f--ing joke with now stones whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know he didn't already negotiate a great place at the "table"? Maybe he took care of that before deciding to run. No stones whatsoever? Are you aware of the death threats he has received yet he walks freely in public????????? Don't believe everything you hear....try talking to him one time...
ReplyDeleteKanjo was in trouble even before this election began. And Kanjo's people were looking at the same polls in January that Barletta saw.. Almost a million dollars in commercials, even $200,000 by the National Realtors Association couldn't move the overall numbers against Barletta... I guess Ed is scratching his head by now.
As for Barletta NOW branding himself a Maverick I think his stance against illegal immigration, the first in the nation from a small town mayor speaks to how much of a Maverick he has been, not just becoming.
Ohh...there is so much more I could say but for now... let me leave you with this thought. The biggest problem in Washington is that most elected don't go there with a plan...they just exist there, comforted by the lobbyists. Maybe Lou hasn't let you in on it yet but maybe just maybe he has a plan......
What a complete idiot. How does he expect to oust Kanjorski if he doesn't have any allies? Considering the fact that Sarah Palin's the party star, he needs McCain on his side more than ever especially to produce the funds and support needed to beat Uncle Paul.
ReplyDeletei know barletta i have talked to him often, he is a dunce..... and this is more proof of his inability to get anything done.
ReplyDeletehe took a stance and risked what? the taxpayers of hazelton's money. i don't see him dipping into the family finances to fight this. maybe he can take a few bucks he is getting from leasing his business.
hopefully kanjo will exploit his weakness and end his political career.
did you hear him hmm and uhgging stamering and stuttering his way through his dumb ass explanation on corbett today..
didn't barletta endorse dan mueser in the primary? if so, then he has alienated his possible colleague in the 10th and possibly the next president if they all win... yeesh what a maroon .... let us keep this a--hole out of d.c.. he has done enough damage in hazelton. i was down there for fun fest and could not believe how many more vacant buildings there are than just two years ago. the tax base is dwindling and the residents are gonna have a huge tax bill after they lose the appeal.
ReplyDeletebarletta is not a tax and spender..
barletta is not a borrow and spender
barletta is a suer and spender
7:31AM What Hazleton were you in?? Hayden Towers, three tenants in its new annex, and a new restaurant, new drug store, intermodel started Lackawanna College opened in the old Post Office building, Luzerne County bought the former KNCB building on Broad St and is locating offices there..
ReplyDeleteI said it before and I will say it again. The attorneys representing the Hispanics submitted a bill that HAS NOT been approved. What part of that don't you understand? There is no judgment against Hazleton and should it lose the amount listed is not necessarily the amount that will have to be paid. The opposing side padded the bill with extras and they will be thrown out.
As far as the case goes, the attorneys for the illegals asked that their identities be kept form the media and the public and it was granted. Then they asked the judge to keep their identities confidential from Hazleton who they were suing and that was granted. I thought in this country you had the right to face your accusers.
Then they asked the judge if they could be excused from showing up at the trial because they were in the country illegally and they feared being deported and the judge granted that.
Hazleton never saw their accusers or had the opportunity to interview or cross examine them. The ACLU who is defending illegal aliens pro bono across the country is asking the court to have the citizens of Hazleton pay their legal fees. If they are willing to do it pro bono why are they picking on the citizens of Hazleton? It isn't Lou Barletta doing it. It is the ACLU.
McCain blew him off. I wouldn't endorse him either. Good 4 lou !
ReplyDeleteMAYOR OF THE YEAR !
We would be better off with a one-term Lou than another-term Kanjo. For the folks who complain Nepa wouldn't get anything for two years... WAAHHHH!!! So what?!? Kanjo is a crook, and the GOP isn't supporting Lou, because Kanjo has supported the GOP for so long. ****** ****** of Nepa are ** **** ****, we get what we deserve.
ReplyDeleteMr. Barletta is running a campaign on multiple definitions of the same issue: illegal immigration.
ReplyDeleteMcCain is currently Senator of the state with quite possibly the loosest boarders, Arizona.
If my campaign platform were against illegals, I wouldn't want to support someone who has proven that he can't help his own state strengthen the boarders.
At least's Barletta is standing by his views, his principles, etc.
what fucking views does lou have. he is a one issue candidate... please enlighten us on what else he does.
ReplyDeleteas to the person who thinks it is whining if we lose federal money, look into it. there are a lot of people employed because of that money. there are many small businesses that exist and cater to those that are employed....
vote for lou and vote for local recession if not out right depression...
didn't barletta endorse dan mueser in the primary? if so, then he has alienated his possible colleague in the 10th
ReplyDeleteHe won't alienate Carney, and more Republican money in the 10th will go to Barletta than to Hackett - they plan to back a winner.
Let's say Lou wins....
ReplyDeleteHe's shut out his party's candidate for President, ran as an outsider, and will then go to DC not only as an outsider but as a loner in his own party, which will be so far in the minority he's going to be lucky to have an office shared with a janitor.
Good luck with all that.
Plus, he gets to skip town and leave behind the mess he made in Hazleton.
