I thought the best line of the night came from Mac. "I am not president Bush. If you want to run against president Bush, you should have done that four years ago." I hope he keeps saying that.
The split-screen made McCain look antsy while Obama kept smiling. Mac's body language and facial expressions were intense and Barry was cool.
Obama may have won on points but McCain displayed a passion like the time he denounced the "agents of intolerance" on the eve of the Virginia primary in 2000 . He lost that election to Bush. I probably shouldn't confess this but I could have voted for John McCain for President in 2000.
Our last debate poll said Obama won 57% to McCain's 34%.
There is a new poll on the sidebar. Who won tonight's debate? Tell me why your guy did better than the other one in the comments.
BTW, the Phillies beat the Dodgers 5-1.
Cole hammels hands down
ReplyDeleteAll the swibng voters in the philly subrubs and lehigh valley and the good people of NEPA who are did not convert to the Yankees like a bunch of pansies missed the debate
Gort, I don't want to start a conspiracy theory here but I cast my vote for McCain and the poll is not accepting it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I keep clicking on "vote" and it is saying no one voted yet.
Well, when you fix it, put me down for one for McCain.
Thanks,
Winger
I'm trying to fix it. I'm getting the same error.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm; I find it quite amusing that your polling apparatus does not register for Sen. McCain. Perhaps this is more of Mr. Obama's "Chicago" style politics at work. More optimistically, perhaps all of the polling data is collected via Gort 42 style. I would hate to view all of the youngsters having a hissie fit the morning after the election when President Elect McCain relishes his landslide. Class dismissed.
ReplyDeleteI am voting for McCain but I have to give my observation. McCain came off as angry. He should have followed Ronald Reagan's lead when he would invoke calmly "There he goes again" with a smile.

Then read "Senator Government" http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122412908424239827.html
Some highlights:
Cribbing from Hillary Clinton's playbook, Mr. Obama called this week for a "90 day foreclosure moratorium for homeowners that are acting in good faith," whatever that last phrase means. When Mrs. Clinton proposed a foreclosure moratorium during the Democratic primaries, Mr. Obama had said it would lead to more expensive mortgages going forward.
Another Obama idea is to give a $3,000 tax credit to companies that create new jobs in the U.S. over the next two years. We don't know many employers who would hire people merely because of a tax credit that barely covers administrative costs, especially if that tax credit vanishes after two years. And especially if Mr. Obama is going to hit that same business with a whopping tax increase. As he told skeptical "Joe the Plumber" -- actually Joe Wurzelbacher of Toledo -- in his own Freudian slip this week, "When you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." But there won't be any wealth to spread if no one creates it.
Then read Joe The Plumber's comments, yes he is a real person.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/10/joe-the-plumber.html
"Joe The Plumber" has weighed in on Wednesday's presidential debate and he says that Barack Obama's tax plan "infuriates me."
"To be honest with you, that infuriates me," plumber Joe Wurzelbacher told Nightline's Terry Moran. "It's not right for someone to decide you made too much---that you've done too good and now we're going to take some of it back."
"That's just completely wrong," he added.
McCain waited far too long to say he isn't Bush, he should have used the line sooner..too bad his writers didn't think of it before. I still find him plain old angry and the way he talks down to Obama is insulting. I'm at least happy he dropped the sad and wayyy over used Maverick, now it's Joe the plumber who doesn't even have a license to work in his county and that grand company he wants to buy is him and another guy, and for that matter how can a guy who works seven days a week for ten hours get the time to go to a meet and greet?? hmmmm

You mean who won the "dual press conference"? That's all these things are! They just both spout out their commercials and don't let in 3rd parties. Anyone know that? The corporations (sponsors) and the Dems & GOP write up a secret contract, which always includes only letting the Dems & GOP in the debate. Yes, it's true. Sadly, it's true.
ReplyDeleteOnce again I set my VCR to videotape the debate while I listened live on the radio. And there was no question who won that way. McCain sounded like an increasingly deranged and agitated lunatic, while Obama sounded like he was just letting some things slide because he knew he had nothing to gain by engaging on those points.
ReplyDeleteI need to watch that tape. I understand that McCain spent much of the night looking like he was about to have a stroke.
Joe the Plumber won
ReplyDeletethe fact that anyone is praising McCain for his performance in the third debate proves that he and Palin have lowered people's expectations down to nothing (don't forget, the VP debates were a tie!)
