Congressman Paul Kanjorski was in Washington working on the current economic crisis and to develop a recovery plan with Speaker Pelosi and others. During the forum, Kanjorski discussed with his colleagues the idea of including a "Buy America's Future Program" in a new recovery package. This program would facilitate the ability of all Americans to voluntarily invest in promising companies with new technologies.
On Sunday he was in Scranton and received shououts from Bill, Hill and Joe.
President Clinton said "Thank you Congressman Paul Kanjorski for being here. Folks, Paul Kanjorski’s got a tough race. He’s got a tough race because some people in his district believe that illegal immigration is a bigger cause of their economic problems than President Bush's economic policies. I got news for them and I've got news for you – you need to help him get re-elected. Thank you."
Hillary chimed in "I just want to reiterate what Bill said. We need as many Democrats in the Congress as we can get and we need to send Paul Kanjorski back to the House of Representatives."
Lou Barletta's camp say that they have topped $1 million in donations and that's all the money they need to win.
They are both scheduled to attend a forum this Wednesday at East Stroudsburg University.
In a new ad Kanjo takes on the Cornerstone issue calling Mayor Lou a liar and hitting him about the sludge being dumped around Hazleton.
Lou Barletta - Not on our Side
This just in via Wally Edge:
Research 2000 for Daily Kos.
10/6-8. Likely voters. MoE 5%
Barletta (R) 43% Kanjorski (D-inc) 39% Undecided 18%
And Obama leads McCain 47%-43% in the Pa-11th CD
How is he able to talk without moving his lips?
ReplyDeleteI predict Kanjorski will be sued by Hazleton Creek Properties. Kanjorski lies when he states they were cited for dumping toxic wastes at the site.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.depweb.state.pa.us/news/cwp/view.asp?Q=510198&A=3 First DEP approved of the Regulated Fill. Governor Rendell supported it, Senator Musto supported it, although Todd Eachus opposed it. Although that is nothing new. Todd Eachus hasn't helped Hazleton City with its pension problem among other things.
This article lists what was erroneously brought to the site but never spread around the property- wood, metal http://www.standardspeaker.com/articles/2008/08/13/news/hz_standspeak.20080813.a.pg1.hz13_dredge_s1.1873917_top3.txt Some toxic waste.
I believe Kanjorski is so desperate to win that he and Ed Mitchell will lie at this point.
Go over to sightsonpennsylvania.blogspot.com to see how he got his nephew Peter another job where Kanjo oversees the industry. Not only did he help the industry that loans us money now he helps the industry that collects bad debts. He set us up with the subprime mess, now has his nephew involved on foreclosure.
Nice job Gort. I really don't think the Kanjorski/Barletta race will be close. Here's the reasons why. The 11th Congressional District is heavily Democratic, much more so since the 2000 reapportionment. This is a Democratic year. Barletta is a one issue candidate, and Kanjorski's views on immigration are very close to those of Barletta. Not gonna be close. Kanjorski by at least 10 points.
ReplyDeleteIllegal immigration isn't a problem? isn't hugely expensive? Please read my post this week about it. It is costing more than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
ReplyDeleteNorton, Kanjorski hasn't lead in any reputable poll ever in this election cycle. The DCCC won't release their methodology so I don't consider their results reputable.
ReplyDeleteOne issue person, that stupid thought process makes me laugh. As Mayor do you think he only faces one issue. Since Hazleton is tax locked at 30 mills by law and cannot increase its revenue through tax increases, the favorite Democratic method: He has to find out how the City is going to afford gas for its cruisers; pay for healthcare for its workers; make sure city streets are passable, encourage economic development and growth; deal with the increasing crime from illegal alien drug dealing gang members; negotiate with unions, just to name a few. He doesn't have the luxury to hide in Washington. He is on the front line which is much more than I can say for Kanjorski.
As Mayor of Hazleton he is NOT entitled to a pension and will receive none when he leaves office. He pays for his own gas and vehicle unlike Kanjorski. He pays for his own cellphone unlike Kanjorski. He does not get to recouperate at Bethesda unlike Kanjorski.
Kanjorski just received $3 million in two months from PACS to help his election. Imagine if we heard the folks at AIG received $3 million right now? That is a $3 million dollar bonus. He admits doing favors for the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. His nephew has a new job at Commonwealth Financial tracking down people who lost their home, their car, couldn't afford their credit card payments, etc. and makes them pay.
Instead of voting to bailout Wall Street why didn't he allow you and me to tap into our 401Ks or IRAs without penalty so people could keep their homes out of foreclosure? Why didn't he give tax breaks to the sound financial institutions to purchase the bad debt? Over 75% of it is good debt so why are we spending so much over 25% that is going to be lost anyway. Contributions from the PACS will provide the answer.
Kanjorski has distorted Social Security. The tax you and I pay right now pays the benefits for present recipients. It does not go into a special account for our retirement. So the market crash right now would not have hurt any present Social Security recipient because these people are already guaranteed their benefit.
Further Kanjorski's cost of living raise is almost a half point higher than the COL seniors received in their Medicare. To boot he received q $4,100.00 raise while seniors on average received $288.00.
He's a realchampion of the little guy, balderdash. Nancy Pelosi is worth more than John McCain but Kanjo will make you believe all rich are Republicans.
He supported George Bush in the Failout yet wags the dog to make you believe Barletta supported Bush. Mental check. How can a Mayor of a small town vote for any legislation in Washington? Check and see how many times Kanjorski voted with Bush and the Republicans.
He misrepresents that William Rinaldi and his company are shipping toxic waste to Hazleton. The truth is that the dredge project is supported by Gov. Rendell, Senator Musto, and DEP. The site is monitored with onsite inspectors from DEP. What happened at the site was a one time occurence where wood and metal were dumped from four railcars, not toxic waste. The debris, not toxic waste, was sequestered then shipped back out, never spread on the site. It shows how effective the monitoring is. Ed Mitchell should be sued for that ad.
I could go on but for now I think that refutes your position. I can supply verbatum links and facts to back up everything I have posted. Ask Ed Mitchell to do the same.
