I don't have any Schadenfreude like some people I have talked to today or heard on the radio. I think it is a very sad day when two of the people we depend on to make fair decisions involving life and death are exposed as being crooks. How many lives have these two judges ruined so they could make a few bucks?
These guys put kids in jail that didn't deserve it. My definition of a juvenile delinquent is a kid that got caught and the rest of us angels were lucky. Sights on Pennsylvania has a detailed analysis of Judge Mark Ciavarella railroading kids though the system and the efforts of the Juvenile Law Center to remedy the situation.
Let's connect some dots after we read the Indictment.

7 years isn't nearly enough time for all the the lives they destroyed. Got to stop calling behavior like this "white collar."
Go to this website where over 100 pages will be posted over time to detail the venality associated with the actions of betrayal against the children and the residents of Luzerne County. There are more than two actors associated with reprehensible conduct.

Well, that's not my definition! Some of these kids are really bad kids. That these two judges were on the take and deliberately funneling extra kids into these private reform schools doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of bad kids out there.
#1 and #2 ARE THE BAD KIDS GREEDY
Yes Dana there are bad kids and now even the bad ones that were put away by these 2 have a good case to challenge the sentence and possibly sue for damages.
After reading your site I get the idea that you seem to favor locking up as many people as possible:)
Wow Dana, as long as they got a couple of genuine bad ones who cares about the good ones that got put away.
Our justice system is not only set up to punish the guilty, more importantly it is to ensure that the innocent are no punished. That is why we have a presumption of innocent.
They better cop a JOINT, not a PLEA!
btw...message from Tim Grier about all this:
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
I think they should get rid of every single judge and start over again - "collateral damage". Innocent or not, get rid of them all.
where was the D.A. or A.D.A. during all of these sentencings?? everyone seems to overlook that issue... they have to be present at all of these hearings.. why was this not questioned sooner?? it was only after lokuta told the fbi. lupas was d.a. and now musto-carroll---lupas is now a JUDGE....need i say more... dont create waves because i wont get my judgship... HE IS JUST AS GUILTY TO SIT BY AND WATCH THIS HAPPEN...
Congratulations Luzerne County! You have the dubious distinction of being ahead of development of the "Prison Industrial Complex."
Where was the Times Leader, Citizens'Voice in this tragedy and most importantly, Why did the PA Supreme Court originally reject the petition that these juveniles rights were violated. Throw those judges out too.
Conohan needs to be investigated for denying rights to the elderly as main judge of the orphans court.
Follow the money! Who has financial connections to these private prisons. Put them in the same prisons the they sent the gangbangers and the street hustlers like the Long Island Boys or the Jersey Boys.
This has been a long time in the making. A plea bargain appears to be an attempt to sweep this under the rug.
