Jill Moran out

Times Leader File photo / Clark Van Orden

As predicted on this blog a few weeks ago Luzerne County Prothonotary Jill Moran has resigned. Her business ties to the the Juvie Brothers, Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan, and law partner of Participant 1, Robert Powell has made her position untenable. The way that this has been playing out an indictment can't be far off.

She falsified a tax lien by changing Powell's name to John Doe. At the time I wasn't sure if that was a crime but a few lawyer friends say it is and the Feds seem to agree. During the last election Carolee Medico Olenginski accused her of not spending much time in the office and it was revealed that she had a clerk, Lana Bidwell, sign her name to official documents when she wasn't around proving Carolee's point.

She was a key attorney for Robert Powell's and Greg Zappala's PA Child Care facility that is the center of the corruption charges against the Judges and is listed as the head of W-Cat Inc., a firm that is building The Sanctuary, a town house development in Wright Township with Conahan, Ciavarella, Powell and others that recently went belly up.

I wonder if she got a chance to stay at the Florida condo and take a ride on the yacht, Reel Justice.

Well, then how come that Sandra Brulo was swooped down upon immediately for doctoring a document, and Jill Moran wasn't???

I don't understand why all of the pinkos who read this rag are attacking this fine young lady. I had the fortune of meeting Miss Moran at a function a few years back and she was cordial and very alert as to how government should be run. I wish she were a part of my family instead of my airhead daughter in laws. I guess I was right, once the Obama justice department took power, all of the honorable people who stood up to the street punks and put them where they belong were going to be set up to be scapegoats for the liberals mistakes. God Bless Jill Moran and those two esteemed jurists, Mr. Chiavarella and Mr. Conahan. To Hell with Gort and his subversive comrades!!!

  5. She was alert as to how govt runs - such as having friends sign you in, falsifying tax liens, etc....that is the way govt runs!

  6. Dan, that's the way the dems have been running Luzerne County for decades. You mean it's not right??

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm against all corrupt politicians, I don't care about their party.

I think they should abolish parties, that would be a good idea.

I don't care if someone's a Democrat or a Republican, get out all corrupt bums!!!

  8. People should stop being party-loyal, that's the root of a lot of problems.

People who vote Republican ignore Republican corruption.

People who vote Democrat ignore Democratic corruption.

    It's got to stop.

Democratic voters have got to clean out their Democratic corruption.

Republican voters have got to clean out their Republican corruption.

That's if you want to stick with a party. You've got to clean out your own party. Everyone's got to clean out their own party. That's where it starts.

And start considering 3rd parties and independents.

Start considering outsiders to their own party, like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.

The Democrats hate Dennis Kucinich and the Republicans hate Ron Paul, so they must be good!

  9. When there's Democratic corruption, Republican voters think Republicans are going to come riding in like the cavalry - and they end up being corrupt.

And vice-versa. It's got to stop. It's like one corrupt party or the other.

Moran agrees to cooperate with investigators

Luzerne County Prothonotary Jill A. Moran, who resigned Monday, has agreed to cooperate in the federal probe of corruption at the county courthouse, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court today.

Moran informed federal investigators that other individuals used her to facilitate fraud “without her full knowledge or consent,” according to an agreement she has signed with federal prosecutors.

No charges have been filed against Moran, who is called a “defendant” in the documents.

The agreement, which requires Moran to cooperate with investigators and submit to polygraph testing at their request is binding on Moran for five years or until the cases in which she participates are terminated.

Moran, 39, is the law partner of Robert J. Powell, who has admitted through his attorneys that he is one of two individuals who paid kickbacks to county judges Mark A. Ciavarella Jr. and Michael T. Conahan. Powell has not been charged. His attorneys have said he is cooperating with the investigation.

Ciavarella and Conahan have pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy and are expected to serve 87 months in prison.

Moran declined to see a reporter who requested an interview at her courthouse office this morning.

  21. My thoughts on this are:

    - Powell bailed and turned on them with "extortion" claims.
    - Moran is doing the same. And Moran works with Powell. Same strategy.
