Blogfest Fall 2017

The Bloggers and the Blogcon Squirrels

Another great Blogfest was held at the River Grille in Plains. In addition to the political types NEPA Blogcon joined us for their after party. There is always a prize for the person who traveled the farthest and this time it goes to PA Lt. Governor candidate Aryanna Berringer who came all the way from Pittsburgh. Aryanna is no stranger to our area, she lived in W-B a few years ago.

Two 11th Congressional District candidates also traveled a bit. Democrat Alan Howe from Carlisle made another appearance in the area and Republican Andrew Shecktor left the wilds of Berwick to
join us.

Many Luzerne County hopefuls were there. Both Controller candidates, incumbent Michelle Bednar (D) and former Controller Walter Griffith (R), worked the crowd. County Council Democratic nominees Wendy Cominsky, Matt Vough mixed it up with Republicans Marc Dixon and Greg Wolovich. Municipal candidates included Luzerne Mayor candidate John Cordara (D?), incumbent Dallas Twp. Supervisor Liz Martin (D) and Plains Twp. Commissioner nominee Barry Kresge (R).
Plus W-B City Councilman Tony Brooks (R) and State Rep Jerry Mullery.

The NEPA Blogcon group were a lot of fun and added energy to the gathering.

This year's award will be given to fellow Young Republican, Aaron Kaufer.

Busy Weekend

Start off with drinks with Tom on Friday then breakfast with Phyllis on Saturday, lunch with Matt and dinner with the Fearsome Foursome. Unfortunately I won't be able to make any of these great events because of other obligations.

Fellow blogger Tom Borthwick of NEPArtisan is celebrating his 30th birthday & his run for Scranton School Board next Spring. The Party will be at Joyce's Cafe in Minooka from 5:30 PM - 8 PM on Friday, September 28th. You can RSVP on the Facebook page.

Come help Tom celebrate his "Borthday!" BTW, What's this about a wedding?

After you sleep off the effects of the Jager Bombs that Tom is not promising to buy for everyone you can join my 2nd favorite state legislator for a Bloody Mary and some scrambled eggs. Sorry Phyllis but Daryl Metcalfe has moved into the lead for all the wrong reasons or maybe I'm just being lazy.

SRPM: The Third Annual Breakfast Fundraiser for State Representative Phyllis Mundy will be held on Saturday September 29, 2012 from 9-11am at Genetti’s Conference Center Wilkes-Barre. Matt Cartwright, 17th Congressional District Democratic Candidate will be the featured speaker.

Spill out of Genetti's then head north on I-81 to Scranton but first see if you can get a deal on some Televisions.

The Matt Cartwright for Congress campaign is hosting its first annual Fall Festival this weekend at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.  The event will take place on Saturday, September 29th from 1 – 3.30 PM.

The family friendly event will feature live entertainment from the Jeanne Zano Band, a BBQ dinner featuring whole roast pork, as well as a moon bounce and pumpkin decoration for children.

Details on Facebook.  Hope it doesn't rain.

NEPA Blogcon 2012 will start at 8AM on Saturday

Join us for a day long conference and networking event covering blog and social media centric topics including: All things Google, SEO, HTML, branding, content strategy, monetizing your blog and more. If that sounds too boring, we promise there will be videos of cats and geek bellydancers.

The after party  will be at Rodono's on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre starting at 5PM. If you're hungry get the pizza with the walnut topping.

NEPA BlogCon 2012 is excited to announce its website launch and will be hosting a launch party on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the River Grille in Plains. This marks the first of many events leading up to Northeastern Pennsylvania's first blogging conference.

The Launch Party will include free appetizers, door prizes, giveaways, and a chance to network with NEPA BlogCon organizers and attendees. It’s a free event, but attendees can make a suggested $5 donation.

It's designed to bring together bloggers of all experience levels, as well as those interested in marketing, social media, and communicating through the internet. All proceeds will benefit The Arc of Luzerne County & the NEPA Veterans Multicare Alliance.

NEPA BlogCon 2012 is excited to announce its website launch and will be

RSVP and find more details about this event on the Facebook page.

The Fearsome Foursome Leslie , Michelle , Karla and Mandy are doing a great job of a slow roll out with a radio appearance and a nice article in the Weekender with more to come.

This part of the Weekender piece I found interesting.

BlogCon is not to be confused with Blog Fest, which is a twice-yearly gathering of local bloggers that will be held again in September.

“I don’t think that BlogCon and Blog Fest really compete with each other, because they are two completely different events,” explained Hryvnak-Davies. “Blog Fest has always been a more political event in nature and informal networking with bloggers and politicians

. I am putting together a Hit the Deck event in July for us political types ( looking for a venue in the 11th CD) that everyone is welcome just like Blogfest.

What's with the Squirrels?
