More bad news

From my friend Zen of Political Rants:

The war has hit close to home

I found out this morning that my wife's cousin was killed in Afghanistan. Just yesterday I wrote about my take on the war and to hear this tragic news first thing today, has taken the words from me.

The TL: A soldier from Pittston was killed from an explosion while serving in the military in Afghanistan, a family member confirmed late Tuesday evening.
Jeff DePrimo, 35, who reportedly served with a local Army National Guard unit, was killed in combat.

Thank you Gort. Didn't mean to rail on you in the email but you can't imagine all the phone calls today. On top of that I have Hillary for President talking about how much he cares. Please feel free to give that asshole my cell number!!!!!!!

My condolences to you, your wife, and her family, Zen. Sad to say I saw that piece in the paper and just glossed over it.

Zen,

I will say a prayer for your family and hope they could find peace. I do a charity event every year for the Captain Robert Scheetz Scholarship. (scheetzbiketour.blogspot.com)

His family alway tells me how they miss him and it is hard on his mother, but Rob loved what he did. Being a Captain in the US Army was a dream come true for him. This helps them get through the bad times.

On WNEP this morning, Lt. DePrimo's description sounded like a mirror image of Captain Scheetz.

Zen,

Please accept my condolences.
I know this isn't a place to post song lyrics but I've heard Tim McGraw's "if you're reading this", and it is such a beautiful, meaningful& appropriate song, I hope noone minds that I post the lyrics.

If you’re reading this
And My mama's sitting there
Looks like I only got a one-way ticket over here
I sure wish I could give you one more kiss
And war was just a game we played when we were kids
Well I’m laying down my gun
I’m hanging up my boots
I’m up here with God
And we’re BOTH watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
And if you’re reading this
I’m already home

If you’re reading this
Half way around the world
I won’t be there to see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you
I hope she fights like me
Stands up for the innocent and the weak
I’m laying down my gun
I’m hanging up my boots
Tell dad I don’t regret that I followed in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
And if you’re reading this
I’m already home

If you’re reading this
There’s gonna come a day
When you move on and find someone else
And that’s okay
Just remember this
I’m in a better place
Where soldiers live in peace
And angels sing Amazing Grace

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
And if you’re reading this
If you’re reading this
I’m already home

Zen,

We'll be in prayer for the family of 1st Lt. Jeff Deprimo.

I hope to ride with the Patriot Gaurd to bring him home.

We've lost a fine young man.

Thank you all. I haven't felt much like writing for a few days.

I apologize to all for the vulgarity I used.
