Busy Wednesday

Back from his trip to the Middle East & Central Asia Congressman Chris Carney will be having a town hall meeting today at Eagle Hose Company, 1 Eagle Lane , Dickson City , from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The Luzerne Home Rule committee has scheduled its latest weekly forum at 7 tonight in the Hazleton City Hall council chambers.

Gerald Mullery, Democratic Candidate for Luzerne County Prothonotary, will be hosting a meet and greet at the House of Wings on Main Street in Plymouth from 6 - 8.

And there will be a Tax Day Tea Party from 4 to 7 p.m. on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. RNC Chairman Michael Steele has sent me a few emails urging me to attend and I know of at least one person that is going.

Rachel and Anna Marie explain what it is about.

Unfortunately my schedule won't allow me to make any of these events.

Gort, thanks for linking the other blogs on the left of your column. I really like that One Vote Counts blog, and I never would have found it without you. Thanks again.

Paul Krugman: "The tea parties are at least in-part "AstroTurf," or a fake grassroots movement, manufactured by "right-wing billionaires. In particular, a key role is being played by FreedomWorks, an organization run by Richard Armey, the former House majority leader, and supported by the usual group of right-wing billionaires. And the parties are, of course, being promoted heavily by Fox News."

I'm sure there's well-meaning tea-baggers. It was a grassroots movement WHILE BUSH WAS PRESIDENT. NOW...it's been co-opted by the likes of FOX "news", Glen Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh...these people are not conservatives. They're self-proclaimed conservatives. I like REAL conservatives like Ron Paul. I'm conservative on many things. I don't like being "used" by these astroturfers.

Here's something we should ALL read, everyone of every stripe:

If we fall for the divide and conquer strategy, where idiots on both sides try to focus our anger on the "other team" instead of the real culprits, we will get distracted, lose direction, and thus became easy to ignore and control. Then the powers-that-be will be able to continue pickpocketing us for years to come.
