Rick Perry in town today

Texas  Governor Rick Perry will be at the Wilkes-Barre GOP
Victory Center (34 S. Main St.) Saturday, November 3, 2012, along with GOP Senate candidate Tom Smith.  The event begins at 10am.

Joe Biden's visit got washed out by the storm but the Big Dog will be in Scranton Monday. TL: Former President Bill Clinton will be in Scranton Monday on the campaign trail, according to Democratic Party sources. Details to follow.

In another iteration of Lucy teeing up the football Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will also be in PA over the weekend.  PoliticsPA has the details.

MB:

In 2008, John McCain visited Pennsylvania the Sunday before the election, but Obama won the state.

In 2004, George W. Bush visited Pennsylvania the day before the election, but John Kerry won the state.

In 1996, Bob Dole visited Pennsylvania the Friday before the election, but Bill Clinton won the state.

In 1992, George H.W. Bush visited Pennsylvania the day of the election, but Bill Clinton won the state.

Charlie Brown never kicks the ball.

Romney wins the debate

So what.

So did John Kerry and Lloyd Bentson.

Mitt Romney dominated the debate last night taking on the role of moderator in addition to candidate. For some reason President Obama didn't challenge him on much of  the bullshit that came out his mouth. No discussion of the auto industry or what loopholes could be closed to pay for his fantasy tax plan not to mention the 47% comment or Bain Capitol. Sometimes the Prez was looking down at his shoes while Mitt had the famous smirk on his face.

I'll bet that this will not make much difference in the polls. Check the averages on Monday.

A side note. I created a monster. Mrs. G never voted before we hooked up. Tonight she kept yelling at me , the TV and the President.

Romney just lost the election, again

I'm hard pressed to think of a Presidential campaign that has been this inept. Is it the curse of Massachusetts? John Kerry and Michael Dukakis ran poor campaigns but it wasn't because they scored so many own goals like Romney but the lack of response to the Republicans beating the shit of them and looked weak. No, I think you have to go back to the 1972 McGovern campaign's botching the VP pick and a hundred other stupid moves.

This video from David Corn in Mother Jones is all the buzz.

Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

"[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

KOS:

To recap:
  1. Romney falsely claimed that 47 percent of all Americans are complete freeloaders.
  2. It turns out two-thirds of that 47 percent still pay federal taxes. (As it turns out, they actually probably pay a higher rate than Romney.)
  3. Of the remaining one-third who don't pay any federal taxes at all, more than half are elderly Americans who have already paid plenty of taxes.

BoBo of all people shoots down this nonsense

 Thurston Howell Romney

Romney, who criticizes President Obama for dividing the nation, divided the nation into two groups: the makers and the moochers...This comment suggests a few things. First, it suggests that he really doesn’t know much about the country he inhabits. Who are these freeloaders? Is it the Iraq war veteran who goes to the V.A.? Is it the student getting a loan to go to college? Is it the retiree on Social Security or Medicare?....The people who receive the disproportionate share of government spending are not big-government lovers. They are Republicans. They are senior citizens. They are white men with high school degrees

Reading my Republican friends on Facebook and cruising the right wing blogs it's apparent they love this from Romney. Vodka swilling welfare Queens driving Cadillacs are bleeding the country dry.  I know people that get public assistance such as Medicaid and Food Stamps and they all tell me it SUCKS!

Then there is the Politico story.

Inside the campaign: How Mitt Romney stumbled

You usually see a story like this after the election. The Romney camp knows they are going to lose so the knives are coming out early.

Bain Capitol moved jobs to China

  And this one

Mitt Romney's Mexican Roots; His Father Was Born In Mexico, Could Choose Dual Citizenship

The NY Post reports that Romney made his remarks at this guy's place

Nude frolic in tycoon's pool

That should go over well with "values voters."

DN:  Former presidential contender Rick Santorum told a group of social conservatives this weekend that the country's "smart people" will never be on their side.

From what I read the Romney campaign thinks that they can win the election by running up the score with white working class males. Sorry to disappoint the GOP and the pollsters but I'm a white working class male that will vote for the President.

Joe Biden visit Friday

If you want to see our always colorful Vice President who is never at a loss for words on Friday at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport you will need a ticket. They can be obtained at the Arlen Specter Scranton office today and tomorrow located at 520 Spruce St, 2nd floor in Biden's hometown of Scranton between 10AM and 5PM. The rally will be in one of the hangers just follow the signs and look for lots of law enforcement types. Doors open at 12:30PM and the program is scheduled to start at 2PM but they always run late. This is a BFD.

Update from Herself: For folks from Luzerne County and other areas who can't make it to Scranton there will be a ticket pickup for Friday's event in Wilkes-Barre as well:

DAY/DATE: THURSDAY APRIL 22nd
TIME: 12pm to 6pm
PLACE: BARNES & NOBLE ON PUBLIC SQUARE in WILKES-BARRE-- 7 S. Main St.

Specter's Democratic primary opponent was in Wilkes-Barre yesterday saying small businesses should have greater access to federal contracts decrying the influence of big business in the US Senate. Joe Sestak slammed Specter

CV: "I believe that the Democratic establishment in Washington, D.C., supported by the Democratic establishment in Harrisburg, got off track when it felt it had to make a political deal with Arlen Specter so he could try to keep his job because he couldn't win in the Republican primary," Sestak said.

Sestak finally dipped into his $5 Million warchest to go up on the the air with this bio ad

Specter had 2 positive ads running over the weekend but now is up with a spot that starts off calling Sestak Captain Queeg. If I didn't know better I would think that Capitol Ideas helped write the script. What about the strawberry's? Then he accuses him of being AWOL from Congress. Specter has switched to the Dems but this ad is out of the Karl Rove playbook. Attack your opponent's strength. Just like Bush tore down John Kerry's military service Specter is trying to do the same to Sestak.

A few observations about the Democratric Convention

They skipped through the Roll Call of the states with Hillary asking to suspend the rules and make the nomination by acclimation. Nice touch for the party unity thing but I've been watching political conventions all my life and it's my favorite part. I love the corny speeches as the Governor of the state sings the praises of wheat or brags that the hometown team won the championship.

Where the hell was this guy in 2004? If he made a speech like this the last time he would be President. This is the best speech of the convention so far.

John Kerry Speaks at the DNC

Candidate McCain vs. Senator McCain.

"John McCain should finish the debate with himself."

My second favorite moment. Congressman Patrick Murphy is a Kings College grad and a vet of the 82nd Airborne who served in Iraq.
