Football and politics

The Yonk's Controller gaggle is scheduled for next Monday and the Eagle's play the Redskins on MNF. Since the event will be at Bentley's and they have a bar with TV's it is perfect setting for a meeting of the Saturday OT Committee and Operatic Society. After the debate we can watch the Eagle's snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory . How did they lose to the Raiders? So come out and join us to address the financial crises by infusing cash into the malt beverage industry to ensure it's liquidity. I will send out an email to anoy,er, remind you in the next few days.

The program:

The debate/forum format will be:
1. Opening statements.
2. 3 Lead off questions.
3. Questions on the job itself and how the candidate’s perceive their role in it.
4. Audience questions submitted on index cards.

It’s free and open to the public. Monday night, October 26th, 7 to 9PM, Bentley’s.


The candidates are pain in the ass Walter Griffith (R), longtime Pittston Democratic Politico Wil Toole who is running as an independent and the invisible man Bob Morgan (D).

A note to a local radio loudmouth who is trashing bloggers this is called snark. It's what we do and I hope it offends you just like just about everything else does. Here's a quarter, go buy a sense of humor.

Corbett is an ASS in every sense of the word.

He is the wanna be journalist. What he spews is sensationalist drivel. Ratings is all he is worried about. There may have been a time long ago when Corbett knew what journalism was and could actually spell it.

Corbett gets no joy from life. He is the critic often cited by Teddy Roosevelt. He has done nothing except find a way to get paid to bitch. And he doesn't get paid all that much anyway. He rides on the coat-tails of Rush Limbaugh. If another station were to go talk and steal Limbaugh away WILK would drop like a rock.
If Corbett actually had the stones he claimed, he would run for office and actually try and make a difference, but that would take real courage of conviction, not just shouting to get attention.
Here is the Roosevelt quote that perfectly describes Corbett.

One thing I don't need is a link to Bob Morgan. I've seen phonies in politics but Morgan appears to lead the bunch. He and Petrilla bully everyone out of the Primary so he gets a free ride and then he throws stones at his two opponents. Forget it Morgan, the public may be fooled on occasion but wtih all that's happened, people are taking their time and picking the canidate that will devote full time to the position, not a guy that works full time for a Bank and theny has the audacity to say, "I'm not quitting my job, I will give the Controller's position the time it needs." Who the hell believes any bank will allow an employee to give as much time to a political position as that position needs? I predict Morgan to finish third.

Dear Ms Learn-Andes.

First I would like to point out that as an Irish American, I have no axe to grind with any of the three Controller candidates, especially on ethnic grounds because all three share my heritage.

My problem is that I read the Toole interview and it was interesting right up to the end when you buried a hatchet in his back. What did the fact that he was falsely accused and had dismissed charges a dozen years ago have to do with this election? If it was fair to bring up his arrest that was dismissed than why wasn't Griffith's arrest in the prostitute sting in 93 brought up. Griffith plea bargained the charge down to loitering and he did pay the appropriate fine. So Toole's charges were dismissed and you hammered him with it. Griffith plea bargained and you ignored it. Are you a serious reporter or just a hatchet for your boss? Regardless of what you may think or not think but if you believe that doing to Toole what you did is morally right then lady I feel very bad for you. At the very least, you owe Mr Toole a very sincere apology.

By the way, I am not a personal friend of his but I will get word to him that I think he got a raw deal.

Anon 12:20, Excellent Point. I think Toole is the only qualified candidate so that means the pea brains will beat the living hell out of him with non issues, dwell on the past and forget about the future. When I go to Penn Sate games, they chant, We are Penn State and in Wyoming Valley, they chant, We are Stupid. As an Independent, I don't think Toole can win but in a perfect world, he couldn't lose. OK pea brains, have fun.

St. Walter was arrested? He solicited a prostitute? Why isn't this being known. Walter claims to be the moral compass of W-B. Ha what a joke. Typical republican hypocrite. Thanks for posting this and helping me decide.

I can't believe the moralists Steve Corbett and Sue Henry are not hammering the prostitute charges and plea.... I can't believe this is the first I have heard about it. How many people are covering for Walter? How come this isn't on the LuLac Political Letter?

Corbett does serve one function. All of his ranting puts out some extra CO2 for the plants to take in and convert to oxygen. Other than that... he serves no useful function. And he is compensated justly.. The word is he makes squat, that is why he whores his "good name" out for products, that is why he always complains about what others earn. How many "journalists" hawk other's wares???
When did you hear and this is Peter Jennings for Domino's pizza?

Anon 5:03 Sue Henry mention her adopted son Walter had a morals issue? Not in this life time. Sue Henry has to be the biggest phony to ever hit the air waves. She banters day after day about good government and at the same time, she thinks it is a great idea to have Walter Griffith as Controller. The other day, she actually said on the air that Walter would make a good Controller because he goes to meetings so he already knows all about county government. Can you believe that? Hanging out in a garage does not make me a mechanic and Walter going to meetings does not make him a capable Controller. Why can't they find a replacement for Sue Henry? Her ratings certainly don't support her ability to garner listener interest. Howwever, I do agree with out with the old and in with the new and I think we should start with out with Sue Henry.

I am very glad about the comment in this posting concerning Walter. I had been a supporter of his, but feel like I have been stabbed in the back at this revelation. I will NOT be voting for him, nor any other republican on the ticket.
Thank you Gort42 for allowing this discourse. I, for one, would have never known about Walter's past if not for you. I have to wonder how many times he had done prior, what he was caught doing?

Anon 12:43, You are not the only one fooled and the cover up goes right to Corbett. He has referred to it without saying what "it" is but the great discoverer of facts that he claims to be never bothered to check the Citizen's Voice 1993 story. Walter tells everyone that he was waiting for someone and a girl approached him and asked him to drive around the corner and like a good little boy, of course he drove around the corner and BAM .. arrested. I know if I was arrested in such a way, they would have had to tie and gag me for the screaming I would be doing but good old moral Walter plea bargained the soliciting charge down to a loitering charge. So much for Morals! Oh and by the way, also back in the 90's Toole had some bad treatment compliments of Peter Paul and those charges were not plea bargained away. Toole was big enough to say F YOU I didn't do anything wrong and I'm not copping a plea. And guess what? Yep, no charges went to court, they were dismissed because they were garbage political charges. I'm voting for Toole the Man not Walter the Plea Kid. Hey, I just thought of something. How come the TL remembers Toole's charges and keep referring to them but they don't know anything about Walter's? I'm still waiting to see if the reporter who got the email does anything. I'll be waiting but not holding my breath.

Corbett was bashing bloggers again today... I don't think he likes genuine free speech and the free flow of ideas. It is only free if he declares it to be correct... Sounds eerily familiar...
