14th Senatorial District

Former Pittston Mayor Mike Lombardo has dropped out of contention to succeed retiring Sate Senator Ray Musto saying he has more important things to do than run for office. Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton is looking at making the race and will let us know later in the week. The early favorite is Nanticoke State Represenative John Yudichak who shot down the wishful thinking of local Republicans that he was switching parties. Yuddy will tell us more on Monday whether or not he he running but I would be very surprised if he doesn't. PittstonPolitics.com promises that another Tomato City pol will make the race and I expect a few more trial baloons to be floated before petitions are circulated. We may even see a Green Party or Libertarian candidate on the ballot in the fall. The only Republican mentioned so far is Luzerne County Commissioner Steve Urban. I want to see multiple candidates on the ballot in the primary on both sides.

Not surprised that Lombardo decided not to run. I think that maybe he would have had to resign his job if he was going to be candidate and that's just too much of a risk. At coffee break this morning, one of the guys said that Valenti should pay Wil Toole to run so he would have something to write about for the next few months. Now that's funny.

What are the chances that Carl Romanelli will get into the race? Would Tony Rostock consider it? If Red O'B wasn't in a war with the Feds, I have no doubt he would be on the ballot. John Teranna is a popular guy but would he give up his law practice? Are there any other suggestions from the Pittston Area? What are the residency requirements? Could Mike Carroll move and then run?

Make no mistake, there is no doubt that Rostock has already considered it. Don't forget, Rostock is a legened --------- in his own mind.

word is the Mayor is in and the First District is supporting him.

Wow the first district dems wow wow. These groups are not as strong as they use to be. They think they r important but being a member of the first district dems and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee at turkey hill. Having there support is just another name to put for your endorsements. Having Petrrilla support you is another mistake but that is another stroy. Mayor Tom should run because Yudichiak is the most conservative dem out there. Just the fact that his name has been mentioned in articles about the GOP tells you what he is all about. Mayor Tom for Senate.

Way to spell story but I do agree with you the first or whatever district dems you get to back you does not meen anything just something you could put on your resume because they will not do any ground work for you. Getting backed by Petrilla does not say much. Yuddy is just to conservative to the point that he almost is a member of the Grand Ole Party. Even thought Leighton is a Democrat in Name Only he at least comes out and supports people and is more of a democrat then yuddy ever is

The first dist doesn't say very much for endorsements but the sixth does give it the old college try. The third is a total joke and the fith hardly even exists. The fourth could be some help but Kanjo's folks will be with anybody who runs against Yuddy (cute name but nothing close to Yonkster).

Just think about whatever dead pan democrat we can assume will win. Will he be corrupt or incompetent?. The mere fact that the democrat party is socialistic should scare the hell out of anyone.

No wonder why we'll ever see any virtue here

Anon1207 You seem to think the district committee's have no say, well just look at Kanjo's race last year. The third district was probably the only one that did the democratic ticket across the board and I don't think I'd consider that 6700 votes a joke. The sixth district will bring the election to Leighton if he has the support of the third. Carbon and Monroe counties will mean practically nothing. Seventh district will follow the third and the second will probably follow the sixth. If they can get poll workers for a candidate that one will win.

Kanjo lost in luz county last year the only people who put him over the mark were in the county to the north of us. And if the Obama Volunteers did not carry lit to the doors of people in luz county with Kanjos face on it he would have lost by even more.

10:23, you have got to be kidding me. A Pittston City Councilman worked the polls for the Republican Judicial candidate and the Third Dist Chairman also pushed for the same canididate. The Democratice Party in the entire county is a joke but especially in Pittston City Hall and the Third District. Continue to live in the past and we will continue to get what we get.
