Lackawanna corruption

The US Attorney's office is promising some some big news later today in Lackawanna County. Whatever else he did I think that former Commissioner Bob Cordaro should be dragged through the streets for chasing the Red Barons out of town.

TT: A federal grand jury in Scranton indicted Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak and former Commissioner Robert C. Cordaro this morning on public corruption charges.

Both are indicted on charges of racketeering and tax evasion. Mr. Cordaro faces a maximum of 364 years and a $7.7 million fine if convicted. Mr. Munchak faces 193 years and a $3.25 million fine.

You are right allowing the Yankees to come is a capital offense too, he and everyone in NEPA who likes the yankees who is not from NY or North NJ should be shot too

Old-time pols were content to pull the strings behind the scenes, and collect relatively small gratuties. New-age pols are swinging for the fences, grabbing as much as they can with one home run. Pun intended for Atty Cordaro....

The more I read and the more I think about it, I am not too sure the feds have a case. It seems they threw a pot of spaghetti at the wall hoping some will stick. The indictments use broad laws such as mail fraud, this honesty thing, etc... is almost like overkill. And the could go to jail for 100's of years.. It seems like the feds are trying to force them to cop a plea...
I don't know either, but AJ always comes off as an honest guy, a little dim, but honest. And Cordoro seems a slick operator, but no one's dummy.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they end up walking.
