The Red Barons are being deported

From We Should BE GM's:

Say "good-bye" to Scranton Wilkes-Barre after this year and "hello" to North of the Border. That's right, the Phils Triple A team will reside for one season in Ottawa, Canada. While a stadium is being readied for an Allentown home for the Lil' Phils in '08, they'll partake of some Molson and bacon in the '07 season.

It's one way of reducing the the local Hispanic population. With all the Latin players on the team being forced to leave the country it should make Lou Barletta and Rick Santorum very happy.

There is something to be said about the ridiculous nature in paying professional (not these guys) ball players mega bucks. This is the reason I watch college sports where athletes compete instead of "work". This would be a good post idea Gort, as some salaries in pro sports are comparable to the "big oil" CEO salaries.

That's also another issue - but at least that one's been beaten to death by the media.

MAYBE I AM WRONG--BUT AREN'T MY TAX DOLLARS HELPING TO FUND THIS TEAM? AND THAT STADIUM?? WHAT WITH POTHOLES EVERYWHERE, AND INADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURE--MY TAX DOLLARS ARE FUNDING A STADIUM WHERE WANNA BE MILLIONAIRES PLAY A CHILDRENS GAME. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED IF YOU LIKE BASEBALL PAY A LITTLE EXTRA FOR YOUR TICKET AND LEAVE MY HARD EARNED CASH ALONE. I WON'T MISS THEM AND I WISH THE DAMNED STADIUM WOULD GO WITH THEM.

Thanks for the Philly Farm Team.. I'm excited. As far as why our taxpayers go to these projects... it's called special interests. Until the GOP in Harrisburg is willing to change our lobbying practices, we are stuck with this practrice.

See my earlier post about an investment group making a bid for the team. Get the politicians out of it and let professional baseball people run the operation.
