Who belongs to the Westmoreland Club?

Westmoreland Club site of $250/plate McCain event

Dan Meuser is bringing GOP Presidential candidate John McCain to Wilkes-Barre on July 23 and it's an invitation only event. When it was first announced I thought the event would be at Genetti's but the "Club" makes more sense. I'm still hoping for a press pass that day.

I would remind the little children that the myth that only those of the Republican persuasion are elitist is indeed merely a myth. Mr. Obama himself put his foot in his mouth with his anti working class statements at a club in California that would make the Westmoreland Club look as if it were a soup kitchen. Sometimes it is best for the children to be fed their medicine--no matter how harsh it may taste--for in the end when they realize that in order to reach the heights of being on the verge of being elected Commander in Chief one must be a friend and associate of the wealthy and this includes Democrats. Already the naivete of the Obama supporters is ringing loud and clear as they disclose shock at the Senators moving towards the "center" for the general election. Obviously these young whipper snappers know nothing of the art of politics and it would not surprise me that their tantrums will keep them home on election day--validating my prediction of a few months earlier in defence of Mrs. Clinton and her more mature and knowledgeable supporters. Class dismissed.

First off Cleaver you yourself are coming off as elitist, pretentious, and overall snobbish at your characterization and dismissal of all youthful supporters of Obama.

For myself it is the attitude of Clinton supporters and sympathizers such as yourself who put on airs and act like they are all knowing in the realm of politics. It was the disregard they have for those who did not support Clinton. It is almost like some of them expected a coronation for Hillary Clinton.

It is ignorance on your part to characterize all of his supporter's as children. It would just be as ignorant for me to state all of McCain's supporters are old and all of Clinton's are women.

As for Clinton's supporters being more mature and knowledgeable, do you not recall the Clinton supporters who called the Florida/Michigan resolve "worse than slavery".

Some class huh?

If you think that their so-called "tantrums" will keep us home, then you are the one acting naive.

Perhaps you should stop being condescending to those who do not agree with you.

As an Obama supporter, who is young, I find it offensive that you care to characterize all youthful supporters of the Senator as naive and ignorant of politics. I have been interested in politics since 12. I originally supporter Dennis Kucinich. In 2004, even though I could not vote, I supported Kucinich. To conclude that Obama's youthful supporters are naive and ignorant, and to use such labels as "whipper snappers", only shows your ignorance of his supporters.

None of these candidates are working class heroes. McCain is married to a multi-millionaire wife. Clinton and Bill are multi-millionaires. And I am sure Obama will have an impressive net worth soon.

If you want someone for a real working class vote for the Socialist Party USA.

Jedi, multi-millionare Obama is. The real question is where all that dough came from since he never took the "big wall street" jobs after his Ivy League education. Yep, he is in touch with us common folk.

For any politician to have a shot at a national office, let alone pres.,they are going to have to be very wealthy.

Most of the money came from book sales. Check the tax returns that were made public. The assets of he and his wife were between 2 and 9 million dollars. 4.1 million of were royalties from book sales. The rest is from investments and pay. There is no conspiracy here.

The McCain campaign chose the venue for this visit, Dan agreed to host it. This tired old business about elitists is just the same old sorry tune that democrats sing every time a republican has a fund raiser.

You'd swear that democrats have never had an invitation only fundraiser at an upscale venue...wake up and smell the latte.

I know Dan Meuser very well,I know him as an employer, as a congressional candidate, and I'm proud to say I know him as a friend.

One thing Dan Meuser is not is an "elitist snob", Dan is an outgoing, warm and generous human being. The fact that he happens to be sucessful in business should not be used to attack him.

Dan didn't have anything handed to him, he is a product of a middle class upbringing where hard work and accomplishment were stressed.

Dan and his brother Scott built a business from the humblest of beginnings, they did this by working hard, working long, and working smart.

It's a simple formula, develop a good product, work 7 days a week 12hrs a day, risk everything, and maybe just maybe in 10 or 15 years you'll be a success, and people can call you an elitist.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE FAR LEFT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS THAT IT TAKES ITSELF AND ITS ISSUES FAR TOO SERIOUSLY AND WITH AN ERR OF FANTASY. OF COURSE IT IS WONDERFUL TO HEAR MR. OBAMA OR ANY OTHER POLITICIAN PROMISING TO CHANGE THE WAY POLITICS ARE CONDUCTED AND IT IS EQUALLY TRUE THAT WE HAVE WITNESSED THIS RECITAL MANY MANY TIMES IN THE PAST. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE, OF COURSE IS THAT THE PLAYERS HAVE CHANGED. I UNDERSTAND THE MANY OF MR. OBAMA'S SUPPORTERS DO NOT TAKE TOO WELL WITH MY REFERRING TO THEM AS LITTLE CHILDREN SO I SHALL DIGRESS AND REFER TO THEM FROM NOW ON AS JUNIOR POLITICOS (AT LEAST IN THIS POSTING). ALL OF THE TRIVIALITY ASIDE, IT IS QUITE IMPORTANT FOR THE JUNIOR FOLLOWERS OF MR. OBAMA TO UNDERSTAND THAT IN ORDER FOR A PRESIDENT TO EVEN BE THE LEAST BIT EFFECTIVE IN CONDUCTING THE NATIONS AFFAIRS HE MUST BE WILLING TO CUT DEALS. EVERY PRESIDENT WORTH HIS SALT HAS DONE SO, INCLUDING GREATS LIKE FDR AND RONALD REAGAN (REMEMBER THE SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM ACT?). OH YES, I MUST CONFESS TO BEING NOT COMPLETELY RIGHT; THERE WAS ONE PRESIDENT WHO ENTERED OFFICE PROMISING AN UPFRONT GOVERNMENT, AND NO DEALS. HE WAS SO EFFECTIVE THAT HE TURNED THE CONGRESS (CONTROLLED BY HIS VERY OWN PARTY) AGAINST HIM. BUT HE KEPT HIS WORD, AND HE LEFT OFFICE WITHOUT ACCOMPLISHING ONE SINGLE THING. AND SERVED ONLY ONE USELESS TERM. HIS NAME? JIMMY CARTER. COME TO THINK OF IT, HE REMINDS ME A LOT OF MR. OBAMA. PLEASE TO ALL THE JUNIOR POLITICOS OUT THERE--NO HARSH REPLIES, IT IS NOT KIND AND IT IS NOT AT ALL EXEMPLARY OF CLASS. CLASS DISMISSED.

Posting all in caps does not make you seem any more intelligent. It is annoying.

The the politics of the Far Left may take some issues very seriously and some albeit with fantasy. However the same can be said of the Far Right and the desire of members of the Far Right to transform America into a Judeo-Christian theocracy in which laws are justified by the so-called "Word of God"

RE; RETURN OF THE JEDI; YOUNG MAN, YOUR WRITING STYLE ONLY CONTINUES TO PROVE MY POINT. YOU HAVE LEVELED PERSONAL INSULTS AT ME AND I HAVE NOT RESPONDED IN KIND. FOR WHAT SHOULD IT MATTER TO YOU YOURSELF THAT I CHOOSE TO WRITE IN "CAPS"; HOW OR MORE IMPORTANTLY--WHY DOES THIS ANNOY YOU?? I TRULY BELIEVE IN MY HEART OF HEARTS THAT YOU NEED TO CEASE VIEWING THE STAR WARS FILMS AND CONCENTRATE ON MORE MATURE CINEMATIC OFFERINGS. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU WATCH THE 1980 FILM "REDS". YOU WILL LEARN A LOT FROM THE FILM AS IT DEPICTS HOW NAIVETE AND BLIND LOYALTY TO A CAUSE CAN CAUSE ONE TO LOSE ONE'S FREEDOM. I DO WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I HOLD NO PERSONAL FEELINGS AGAINST YOU OR ANY OTHER COMMENTATOR ON THIS BLOG. I AM JUST AN OLD MAN WHO WOULD LIKE TO SHARE HIS YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE WITH THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED OF GUIDANCE. REGARDLESS OF YOUR INSULTS HURLED AT ME, I DO ENJOY THE YOUTHFUL CHIT CHAT STYLE OF YOUR POSTS. I AM RUNNING LATE FOR A LECTURE SO EXCUSE ME. CLASS DISMISSED.

Bud, I am honestly wasting my time, but I enjoy a verbal joust.

It annoys me because it is not proper to type in all caps.

I have not leveled personal insults at you. I have responded tit for tat to every snide comment you have made towards me.

Right now in your latest post you have insulted me taste in film just based off of my love for Star Wars. I am familiar with Warren Beatty's film and it is one that I look forward to seeing on sometime. There is no need to result to schoolyard insults such as mocking what movies I like. It is ignorant of you to assume that Star Wars and science fiction are the only movies I know of or watch. Perhaps we can discuss cinema sometime, you would be presently surprised.

You call me naive based off of what? That I am a liberal? That I support Obama? So you know there are things that Obama stands for and does that I do not agree with. I am highly disappointed in his vote for the FISA bill for example. Needless to say, I do not believe in all liberal causes either. You are making the assumption that since I am young and liberal I blindly follow whatever Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid suggest.

I hold nothing personal against you. My contempt is your snide and pretentious comments towards myself and those like me.

Who's at the WC? There are some nice people, but not many. On any given day, you have the slimy liars at Rosenn Jenkins, & Greenwald; fat slob Rusty Flack and his not too bright brother, Hal; whining crook Meusers; 'The I buy politicians' Sordoni boys, the 'what's in it for me' real estate moguls; and then there's the rest of the Back Mountain RINO crowd; and the rest of the top shelf boozers whole like their Johnny Walker Black Label and Crown Royal.
