Duke from Dallas for State Represenative

Yesterday I got an email from a reluctant Democratic Committeeman from Nanticoke about another subject that included this tidbit
"Duke from Dallas is running for something or other, I didn't quite catch what - against Karen Boback, maybe? He just got drafted for it shortly before the meeting."

.

That got my wheels turning so I asked Duke if he was running but he didn't give me a straight answer so I asked the 2nd District Chairman who gave me an Apparatchik type answer "I have no comment at this time. Please expect an official Democratic Party press release regarding the 117th State Representative seat following the submission of the nominating petitions."

.

Surfing around social media (Facebook) it was easy to confirm that he is circulating petitions.
.

From Duke's page
.

my PA Rep Karen Boback voted to put the value of my residence & quality of our neighborhoods a FISCAL RISK. Dallas Twp spent about $150,000 & 2 years' work on Zoning only to have Rep Boback turn her back on LOCAL DEMOCRACY. If she doesn't read or can't understand the bills she votes on that let Foreign & out of state CORPORATIONS trump local citizens' rights to clean air & water it might be time for a CHANGE

Each time I hear the name Duke in association with politics I cringe at the thought of the wacko David Duke.
Just as I cringed at Ron Klink's name back in 2000.
By the way, did you know Klink's wife's maiden name is HOGAN!!

State Representative Duke from Dallas! That would be fantastic! Its been six years in this district and we need a change. Mrs. Boback started out as a good legislator but now she is just a rubber stamp for Tom Corbett. I live in Northwest School District. Most of the folks here including me are employed by the district and our kids go there. Boback and Corbett destroyed public education in the last budget and in the budget this week, delivered it a final death blow! That's MY kids education she voted away. That's MY job she just voted away. I need to support my family, and we work as hard as we can. I have voted Republican for that seat since the days of George Hasay... Not this year. I can't afford another term of Karen Boback.

"Last but not least, if you don't like my blog...write your own...but don't attack me for exercising my freedom of speech."

A big no-prize to anyone who can find out where I got that quote!

So, yeah, the 117th needs to get on the stick with Duke's petition. We've just got a few weeks. I'm in the 119th, I think. For now.

DB Echo :Originally this blog had quoted text from my blog...taken without permission...and not so much as asking for a statement.I can see why you would think I was attacking without reason if you read it after Gort updated it You will notice my comments are now removed...as I do not comment on blogs unless I am dragged into them.

I don't think any of Gort's blog post was meant to be negative for Duke (or to poke fun at Karen Boback). I've heard these "rumors" too from other sources, and Gort just wanted to put some merit to what he heard online. Anything posted to a Facebook wall is public information (so long as your friends with the person if they have their profile locked down as I'm sure Duke's is) and Gort, DB and I are all friends with Duke - so we could see what was posted to the wall. If you wanted people to request permission to repost what was said, you should have noted it in the original posting.

The bottom line is, I support whatever decision Duke comes to with running for State Representative, and yes, I will stop by to sign the petition.

Take care!

Perhaps if one doesn't understand the culture of social media they might 'think' that's the way it works - however, there is no guaranteed privacy, not on Facebook even if your locked down and certainly not on a blog for Pete's sake. And, if people quoting you or even outright stealing your content is a concern, a private journal no one else can see would be more appropriate.

The funny but sad thing here is that nothing has gotten off the ground yet and there is drama already attached to it........ Politics.

Mark is a talker, whiner and complainer. He would rather ala Steve Corbett, rattle cages than actually put himself in a postition where he would not only have to be a doer, but be responsible.
