What about Bob?

FT: Republicans yesterday blamed individual ethics cases more than Mr Rove. "In Bob Sherwood's seat [in Pennsylvania] that would have been overwhelmingly ours if his mistress hadn't whined about being throttled," said Mr Norquist. Were there any lessons from the campaign? "Yes. The lesson should be don't throttle mistresses."

Or drown the government in a bathtub. I love the postmortem analysis coming from the Republicans. We strayed from our principles, Iraq wasn't an issue, etc. Voters are stupid is what they seem to be saying.

Incompetence was the issue. Whatever you thought of the Iraq war at the beginning most people know the US military can't stay there forever and Bush kept saying "stay the course." The response to Hurricane Katrina, the budget blowing up, earmarks, Jack Abramoff and Mark Foley just showed that the Republicans have not governed well and in many cases were hypocrites.

There is always a natural correction in American politics. Our system was designed so no one person or group of people can get everything they want and when they try the people stop them.

The GOP has an oppurtunity to pick a great replacemnt, I think they should pick a women to counter balance the dems
Baker and Boback both got elected recently and shoudl saty int here spots.
Sandy Kase would be an excellent choice but would need convincing to run. Another great Choice would be a King's college professor who is currnelty independent, but is conservative for the most part. She would really need to be dragged in but ounce in she would be excellent

Let's just hope the Reps stay disconnected for the Presidential election. There are alot of things wrong with the republican thought process right now and as long as that stays status quo the dem's will be looking pretty in 2008 also.
