The national press and others are obsessing about who will be the VP choices. I don't think it matters that much because people don't vote for Vice President.
But let's have some fun by speculating on Barack Obama's pick. Next week we will have a poll about the Republicans.
Who is in the running?
From PGR:
GOVERNOR TIM KAINE-VA
SEN EVAN BAYH-IN
FMR SEN SAM NUNN-GA
SEN JOE BIDEN-DEL-PA CONNECTION
GOV ED RENDELL-PA
Dark Horses:
SEN CHUCK HAGEL
GENERAL POWELL (AKA OBAMA LANDSLIDE)

Yesterday on GMA they mentioned that Al Gore was a possibility too, I shit you not.
You left our General Clark.
I want to throw up
Colin Powell would not give Mr Obama a landslide he wouldn't otherwise get. And I'll bet you a Lou Barletta bumper sticker he will pick someone who isn't black, simply because he has to; this race is all about race, whether people are willing to say so or not.
anonymous, I've wanted to throw up for most of the last eight years.
What about Bill Richardson?
I forgot Richardson but I can't change the poll once somebody votes.
The McCain Camp is making sure that this race is all about race.
I think the pick will be a surprise.
But in the end nobody votes for Vice President.
My money is on Wesley Clark or Joe Biden.
All though I believe an Obama/Richardson ticket would be pretty solid too.
Although Mr. Obama is a "Fad Candidate" pushed to his party's nomination by the young with the zest of an uninvited party guest, the Veep selection is still of interest even to an old fogie like me. I understand that many of Mr. Obama's supporters are pushing for Mr. Bayh or Mr. Biden, but it would be in his interest to choose Mrs. Clinton as a running mate. Although this action will not gain him election, it will at least allow him to eventually lose with the highest possible popular vote (the Electoral Landslide which is Mr. McCain's will not be altered, however). In turn, Mrs. Clinton will be in a much better position to begin her candidacy anew in
2012. Perhaps, just perhaps, by then she as nominee could pick what will be a much more seasoned and experienced political figure in Mr. Obama as her running mate. I have been around many years, and stranger things have happened. Class dismissed.
