State of the World

On Sunday, May 4th from Noon to 4 p.m., up to five Third party and Independent presidential candidates will speak and debate their issues at the 9th annual State of the World forum in Sugar Notch. Some of the confirmed are Independents, Bill Ingram, Richard H. Clark, Daniel Kingery and Thrid party candidates Mr. L. Washington and Mr. Jack Grimes.

Other Third Party and Independent candidates for lower federal and state offices are also invited to attend. Kurt Shotko, Independent candidate for the 11th District in Northeastern PA is planning to participate, among others.

Mr. Joseph Pilchesky, creator of dohertydeceit.com, a website that monitors the mayor and government of Scranton, will recieve the annual Free Speech Award at this years event. His website was shutdown illegally and he sued. With the help of the ACLU he won a substantial settlement. Mr. Pilchesky also exposed incomplete 2007 election forms filed by an incumbent county commissioner. The official was removed from the ballot. His name did appear on the ballot in the general election, but he was defeated.

Mr. Mort Malkin will also speak about health care reform and how to plan for your personal wellness. He is the author of several books on personal fitness and wellness.

How serious can you take anything that Kurt Shotko will be involved with?

I hope the Tin Foil will be provided for free

Kurt Shotko & Joe Pilchesky in the same room? There's not enough oxygen for the rest of us. Wait it's like having Lenin & Stalin, not wait Hitler & Mussolini wait Laurel & Hardy in the same room. Yeah y'all be taken real seriously.

Could you explain what substantial settlement Joe Pilchesky recieved. Yes the website stayed up and running, but the "high priced" lawyers (I thought Joe was one) got the $50K the DA laid out and a very stern warnig from the judge to have a better case next time they try to shut them down. Glad to see that the ACLU kept a site that discusses the sex life of political & private citizens, drags in their children and garndchildren, calls a afro american writer a "Ni**er" that should be hung - all because Joey couldn't get a Mr. Fix it shop in a residential neighborhood. Yeah - You Go ACLU fight the good fight!!

Gort if he were a true defender of free speech I would say give Mr. Pilchesky the award.

Have you or these people that are giving him the award ever gone to the DD website and read this forum? It is full of threateing posts, encourages stalking, slams the family members of private citizens and public officials.

Worst of all this man who is about to receive an award for the freedom of speech only allows that freedom to those who agree with his opinion. I do not call that freedom of speech, what it can be called is the most hypocritical site on the net.

I say this award should go to someone who is truly deserving of it. But hey that's just my opinion.

Have a great day and I thank you for allwoing me to post my opinion.

Giving Mr Pilchesky an award for free speech is like giving an award to a mobster for supporting the Catholic Church. The logic is nothing short of insane.

Search Mr Pilchesky's board back to December 2006, when he (Pilchesky) blamed Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty for the suicide of a city employee. What a Christmas present to the family of the deceased...not to mention the fact that mental illness is not something that can be "blamed" on someone else. And for this he gets an award?

Joe Pilchesky is truly deserving of winning the “Jim Jones freedom of speech award.” His message board routinely bashes gays, jews, irish-catholics, children and grand children of elected officials, private citizens and anyone else who they perceive to be a DOby (Doherty lacky). Speak your mind and get a stern private message from Joe to maintain the message and agenda. Do it again and Joe will ban you like no tomorrow. I highly suggest you visit his message board – Scranton Political Times to be able to better craft your spin on why he is worthy of your award. I wonder if Joe will be upset because his “bottom feeder” (that is how he refers to the regulars on his board) will not be willing to drive 25 miles to Sugar Notch to see Joe get the award. Thanks for allowing this post.

Wow, giving a man a freedom of speech award who does not let anybody post on his message board that does not agree with him. You guys should really do some research before you hand out awards.

Some freedom of speech site where regulary the cry baby police and fireman bash Doherty & other public officials with disregard to anyone else thoughts or sense of self worth. Speak against them and Joe will ban you. Thanks for letting me speak here, before Joe's bottom feeders show up and post nasty comments about those who have dared speak against their King.

I "was" a firefighter in the city of Scranton. Retired a little over a year ago. I would hardly call any member of the SFD a "crybaby." No raise for about 10 years protecting "bashers" of public safety like yourself. You would swear that city public safety workers were paid 6 figures!!! What have you ever done? Who are you to call anyone anything? Walk a mile in the shoes pal! You wouldn't last 5 minutes.
