Puppys and massages

Here is a link to the controversial Karen Boback mailer. I agree that this sort of thing should not be allowed right before an election and this came from her official website and the mail.

The Pennsylvania 117th State Rep race has James May taking her on in the Republican Primary and Russ Bigus waiting for her/him in the fall.

your shitting me! that is a joke? isn't it?

tax payer funded campaign stop...... and i wonder if the businesses that are there are contributors....

She should have learned from Sherwood...don't get caught up in an unethical massage scandal, or they'll vote you out!

Boback's handing this election over to May.

It's no joke, I saw the mailer myself.

She and others in Harrisburg are using their positions to run for office. This piece hit the mailboxes after elected officials were supposed to stop sending out pieces like this.

It's against PA electioneering rules! (Not that it's ever stopped them before).

is this a joke or is this real? If this is fake, the person who is sending it out will get some slander charge from Bobak/Sichler and gang. Count on it

If this is a real mailer, Rep Bobak needs to resign today or have some ethics charge made against her. If this is real, the election is over.

At least Sherwood didn't use tax dollars to invite potential voters to get a massage.

Ihave trouble believing this is legit - She may be clueless, but surely not that bad?

If I need to stand in line at the polling place on election day, any chance Karen could give me a foot rub?

This has to be fake. Can someone with all of her education be this stupid? I mean besides all the obvious stuff, isn't her COS married to the head of the SPCA? A little nepotism?
She can not be this clueless, can she?

We are paying for this mailer. We now have a choice. We can either continue to sit and gripe on a blog, or we can actually try to do something about this type of self-promoting garbage. For those of us in the latter category, here are some ideas:

1. VOTE: May or Bigus

2. On Monday, call Nancy and Kevin, Sue Henry and Steve Corbett: 800-437-0098

3. Write a letter to the editor via e-mail:

New Age Examiner
bbaker1@epix.net

Suburban News
news@suburbannews.biz

Standard Speaker editorial@standardspeaker.com

Times Leader
mailbag@timesleader.com

Citizens Voice yourvoice@citizensvoice.com

Times-Tribune
Letters@timesshamrock.com

Rocket Courier
rocket@epix.net

This is stunning! If it was mailed inside the 60 day window, she broke the law; mailing out this type of stuff on the tax-payer dime is unethical; but in a post-Sherwood political arena, this type of mailer shows an absolute lack of wisdom on Bobak's part. Some people have a ton of degree's, but lack basic, commonsense wisdom.

Don't just sit and complain, do something!

It's for real. Just follow the first link in Gort's post and it takes you to her official website and you can read it yourself.

Eh, the "Franking Privilege" is one of the oldest and most cherished perks of holding office. That, and free baseball tickets.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franking_privilege

And as long as the privilege has existed, it has been abused as a way to present thinly-disguised "vote for me" messages. In this case it could be (well, is being) argued that the event is a legitimate informational session on subjects of concern to the local constituents. The fact that it comes just before an election, it could be argued, is simply a coincidence.

Karen Boback had best be on her toes at the event - any explicit indication that she is flagrantly turning this into a taxpayer-funded campaign rally will surely get reported all over the place. But if people complain beforehand and have it stopped - well, then they're just a bunch of meanies who want to deny the elderly the chance to get massages and play with puppies. (Hell, maybe I'll have my mom go there.)

(And since my mom lives in the 119th district, there would be no quid pro quo!)
