Lou Barletta will announce for Congress today

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta will make a “major announcement” at 1 p.m. today at the Markle Building in downtown Hazleton.

Media consultant David Milner e-mailed local media outlets Wednesday to inform them of the scheduling. Milner’s involvement added to the speculation because he produced Barletta’s campaign ads and provided consulting service for Barletta’s 2002 congressional run and his prior mayoral races.

Barletta is also scheduled to be on national TV twice tonight. He’ll be on Lou Dobbs’ CNN show at 7:30 p.m. and is tentatively booked for “Hannity and Colmes” on the Fox News Channel at 9:30 p.m.

According to the latest FEC report he starts $150,000 in the hole while Kanjo has almost $1.5 million in the bank. I think it's interesting that he is going on some of the cable news shows the same day he is announcing his bid for Congress. Is he running to represent the people of the 11th District or a prime time cable spot?

Plainly bad strategy; he should hold out until 2010 when he'll have a better shot (especially if Hillary is President). Funny how the EGO in politics nearly always overshadows the logic. In a totally unrelated sidebar: May God grant peace to the soul of Maharish Yogi, who passed away yesterday at age 91. Hare Krishna!

Has Denaples been conviceted of anything? I believe this was the liberal response to donations to Hillary
