Buddy can you spare a dime

Or $65,000 over ten years at 5.25% but never have to make a payment? That's the deal Lou Barletta got from Legacy Bank of Harrisburg when he last ran for Congress in 2002. I wish I could get a loan with terms like that.

The DCCC is alleging that Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta's Congressional campaign in 2002 took out a loan that was supposed to be paid back by Jan. 25, 2003 but the due date was extended to Dec. 31, 2013 and says that no bank would make a 10 year unsecured loan to dormant committee of a losing candidate. The loan should be part of the $150,000 debt reported to the FEC ever since.

Barletta campaign spokesman David Millner thinks it's a clerical error saying “There was never a bank loan made to the campaign" and “The only loan made to the campaign was made by Lou personally.”

It looks to me like the Democrat's opposition research people have been waiting for Barletta to announce his run and have fired the first broadside with more to come. If this is not a "clerical error" I hope our ace reporters will find out who in the Legacy Bank approved such an arrangement.

Geez, desperate right out of the gate, I guess Kanjo isn't really thrilled about having to discuss issues with Lou.

So let me get this straight....pointing something like this out against Lou is a 'desparation' move? Nevermind whether it happened or if it did it may be illegal? Just want to make sure I have the ground rules straight for such tidbits of info when they come up for either side.
Actually, if Mayor Lou had any other issue to talk about other than his problem with non-English speaking citizens of Hazleton, some other issues could be brought up for discussion. But I really have no idea what he thinks about anything else...

PB&J

I'll be happy to straighten you out.
Kanjo through one of his spokespeople said he looked forward to campaigning against Senor Lou. Apparently campaigning in Kanjo speak means slinging 6 year old mud.

Es la vida.

Adios

so kar-umba does that mean that barletta will NOT be talking about cornerstone tech???????

just curious who in this area could persuade a bank to part w/that much unsecured cash and not even want an interest payment back?

anon....mudslinging is only wrong if you are the sling-er. If you are the sling-ee (especially on the GOP side) you are a victim. I think I'm getting the hang of this....
