Sort of. The Hackett camp has stopped updating their website and uploading their TV ads to Youtube. When I watched the WNEP news at noon yesterday I didn't see a Hackett spot or I just missed it. Has Chris stopped writing checks to his campaign?
The Carney camp is hitting Hackett hard over his supposed support of the fair tax. I've been watching this race closely and I have never heard Hackett say anything like that. Yeah, he thinks that cutting taxes will solve all our problems but this ad is wrong and unnecessary. This follows a mailer on the same subject that Local Values picks apart.

I haven't written much about the 10TH but I did today. Carney will retain the seat and Suzie will get her job back.
I have to disagree with you on this one Gort. Hackett talked about the Fair Tax at a forum in Lycoming County and I personally heard him talk about a national sales tax at a candidate forum in Pike County during the primary. This sounds allot like Hackett saying one thing to a room of people when it fit his needs then denying it when it hurts him politically. He is a dishonest man!
Politicians talk about a lot of things but it's not Hackett's position. He actually favors a flat tax which I consider an equally bad idea. This spot is a stretch with very thin sourcing and unnecessary since the Carney camp can beat him up on real issues.
Gort, I'm happy to see that you have an inside track into what Hackett is thinking and that you trust him. When I heard Hackett in Pike County he was "defending" a national sales tax. Several people in the audience challenged him and he stood by the idea. By the way, Carney was there as well so he didn’t have to rely on a reporter for his source he heard it with his own ears. It was only after Hackett saw how it would play politically that he started to focus on the Flat vs. Fair Tax. I don't think for a minute that he has changed his mind and he should be honest about his position. He may prefer a flat tax but he would still support a sales tax over our current system. You seem to want to give him a pass for what he is saying in public.
Gort you are wrong. Hackett was playing up the national sales tax in the primary. I also heard him because it is one of the major issues with the Club for Growth- you know the group who cost us the chance to get back the 10th. I don't have anything against Carney but Meuser could have beat him, Hackett can and will not.
