Ed Wade is fired

One World championship in 120 years. 5 appearances in the World Series 1915, 1950, 1980, 1983 and 1993. And people obsess about the Cubs and Red sox futility.

Somebody had to take the fall and take responsibility. The team this year was exciting. They didn't fold down the stretch. I remember all the so called experts saying they would need 90 wins to make the playoffs. But they won 88 and missed the playoffs by a game. They were right.

He signed Jim Thome and Billy Wagner but locked up payroll on Lieberthall, Abreu and Bell.

We need a Billy Bean type guy. There a few experienced GMs out there, I hope the Phillies will grab one.

Nobody asked me, but don't Ed Wade and syndicated Columnist George Will look like they were seperated at birth?

I hate to see a guy lose his job over 1 game. You could look at a managerial move or a dumb play by a fielder during the year and yet the team is in tact. I think this is a step backwards for the Phils, because of 1 game you fire a GM? they deserve what comes to them next year.

It's not just one game. He has been GM for eight years with zero playoff appearances. The nail is they drew a half million less fans than last year. That equates into about $25 million. They should go get Gerry Hunsicker.

I hear you, I still don't agree. You put the team together based on the resources you have. Correct me if I wrong but the PHil's never had a high budget until the new stadium and it's only 2 years old, where was the budget the 6 years before that. Rumor mill Cashman will be the next Phil's GM after October 31st. The Yanks will not sign him back.

Cash MAN, who wants that bum. All that money to spend and they still come up short.

Don't go there, atleast they won 2 games. What was Boston's payroll? last time I checked it was in the top 5.
