More Dems in the 10th

TL: Registered Republicans in the sprawling district that encompasses all or parts of 14 northeastern and central Pennsylvania counties, now stands at 206,093, or 48.7 percent. That’s a drop of about 4 percent from 2006.

The number of Democrats increased about 2 percent in that time frame, now showing a total of 171,263, or 40.5 percent of the registered voters. Third-party candidates or those who list themselves as unaffiliated climbed nearly 2 percent, totaling 45,527, or 10.8 percent.

Some of this can be attributed to Republicans switching to vote in the Democratic Presidential primary but many are new voters. In Wayne County I read that the Democrats added over 1,000 new voters. When I lived there I doubled the Democratic registration in the little town that I resided in. Even with the hot Dem Prez primary I think it's amazing that Chris Carney got more votes than the 2 Republican candidates combined in the primary, 70,000 up from 26,000 in 2006. Chris Hackett beat Dan Meuser 33,000 to 30,000 in an incredibly expensive race.

In other 10th CD news Hackett got the endorsement of the National Right to Life PAC. He has also has been endorsed by the Club for Growth, the Eagle Forum and the Flat Earth Society.

Thank God that Chris Hackett has such broad appeal...NOT!

2010 will be here before you know it, I can endure 2 more years of Carney.

The poltical reality is that you better be a concensus seeker, it doesn't mean you're weak, it means that you are a person who wants to actually accomplish something.

Dear meuser flunky,

If carney wins this one he's there for sure in the future.

Look at the other side, Carney did not do well in Luzerne County. He missed out on about 3500 votes and only got 8000 if the numbers are correct.

Get over April 22 already.

If you are a true conservative, give us your rendition in writing of what the points are and let's work on achieving them.

If not please shut your fucking mouth for once and for all and keep putting your scooters together.

most candidates who didn't have an opponent saw significant undervoting. Carney's undervotes probably weren't nearly as high as Tom Corbett's.

Why does everyone still think Luzerne County is the center of the universe for this district? Ever since redistricting, the balance has shifted to the western half.

Anon,

I hardly know where to start, first off I'm not a flunky, at least that's not what it says on my business card.

I never said I was a "true" conservative, that seems to be a term that you and the rest of your cabal reserve for yourselves and others who share your narrow view of things.

Try to grasp what I'm saying, I'm a republican, I share traditional republican values, I belive in smaller less intrusive government, and lower taxes, and in an environment where business can thrive.

I personally care a lot less about the social issues that get some of you guys going, I support socially conservative values but it is not a deal breaker for me, and I'm only speaking for myself.

Hackett demonstrated that he has no integrity, he lied, he exposed himself as a hypocrite on at least 2 occasions,I don't find that appealing in a candidate.

Appaerntly you and your ilk are willing to overlook a lot of flaws if someone says that they will refuse earmarks.

Good for you, I'll be writing in Dan's name this November, and encouraging others to do the same.

Frankly I don't care if Carney is more difficult to defeat in 2010, I'll accept that rather than be represented by Hackett.

Have a nice evening.

Shalom

Guten Abend Kar,
Well said sir but I do disagree with your position. It will be far easier to unseat Buddy's son after one term than Pelosi's lap dog after two. Please abandon the dark side and come back to the light.

An interesting convergence of posts on the sudden swelling of the ranks of Democrats, Gerrymandering, and a visit from Tom Delay, the man who got the Supreme Court to agree that out-of-season redistricying is A-OK, at least when it's done in Texas and benefits the Repugnicants. Still, I think that any attempt to redistrict based on the numbers of Operation Chaos pseudo-Democrats may backfire, creating weak "Democratic" districts.

I keep trying to imagine KAR as Waylon Smithers to Dan Meuser's Montgomery Burns, but the cadence of his writing is all wrong. Smithers is more clipped and obsequious.

Greetings schmuck kar.

Why didn't you just come out and say that you were only half RINO and that you just hate Christian people?

By the way, I hope your hard-on goes away.

Wow! Anon 5:36 if you are representative of a true conservative, then you have just re-inforced my desire to continue to work to defeat Hackett.

As to my "erection", if it last more than 4 hours I should be calling my doctor, thanks for the concern.

d.b., try to comprehend what's going on here, I'm not doing this for Dan Meuser. I never spoke for Dan, or claimed to speak for him.

There are a few issues where I don't agree with Dan, but I felt he was a far better and more elecable candidiate than Hackett.

Hackett is finding just how much damage his campaign did, it's not just me, and if you think I'm out here all alone you're in for a bit of a surprise.

Zen,I don't think I'm on the dark side, that is inhabited by Hackett/Toomey/Maderia et al.

Adios.

Kar,

Look, on behalf of all 10th District Republicans who want to win in November, get over the loss and get over yourself! Any of us who have been around politics has lost at least one tough and, yes, bitter election. Life goes on. The issues faced by the country are bigger than your sour grapes.
By the way, your posts only serve to hurt Meuser, should he want to do something in the future.

kar idiot, PLEASE join the carney campaign. We need to see more of you come election time.

10th district Republicans should be more focused on getting McCain to the White House than Hackett in to the house minority.

I'll live with two more years of Carney as long as there's a veto pen in the White House, not a rubber stamp.

My friend Kar - as much as I also want to write in Dan's name in November, we can be more effective by voting for Carney and sending Hackett back to his own hill at Moorgan Ridge.

Yikes! Flunky, schmuck, idiot, sour graper...and you guys call me bitter?

Lighten up dudes,I'm just exercising my right to dissent. I won't vote for Carney, I won't vote for Hackett, if I can I'll write in Dan's name, if not I'll skip this particular race.

You can still be a good republican and not support Hackett, actually imo you're being a better republican by not voting for Hackett.

Have a nice day.

Concensus seekers? Not on the far right! They'd rather elect fringe wackos in the primaries, only to have them crash and burn in the general, then blame everyone else for the problems. It's too bad it's like this now...if anyone hasn't read "All Politics Is Local" by Tip O'Neill I'd advise you to do so...not only is it a good (nonpartisan) easy read on politics...it has stories about how Tip and Ronald Reagan used to go out for drinks at the end of the day, even though they were on absolute opposite ends of the spectrum. Somehow I don't see Harry Reid and W hanging out after a session. Definitely Pelosi and Carney though...no?
